Move the mouse up to the left corner and the menu options should appear even when in fullscreen mode. Smile

Modifying the resolution for ultra wide might work, 16:10 seems to as can be seen in the example screens above whereas for 16:9 I get black borders so maybe in fullscreen mode it could work with 21:9 just by setting the resolution to something matching that aspect ratio but I am unsure how well the rest of the game will scale, can't test it myself either unfortunately.

@JBeckman
Move the cursor works, thanks. Very Happy

Now i just need a fix, for the ingame settings not saving. I already searched for the local config files in the usual folders, to make it read-only. But i found nothing, man. Embarassed

Config file is in the Steam user folder by default, this means whatever emulator you are using if you downloaded the Codex release has it's own location for that stuff, Codex folder in programData perhaps or who knows where it might be stored, it can be pretty varied but I know Reloaded used programdata back when they tampered with Steam though the AppData folder structures in the user directory might be more common now with 3dm or ali213 and the other active groups.
(Save files are there too.)

EDIT: Some more screens using downsampling. Smile

Well haxored my way to 2560x1080 but.. it only stretches the image if i replace the res values...

Meh, seems you need to manually tweak the aspect ratio as well for different sections of the game.....

What the hell, why?

LIGHTNING.RETURNS.FINAL.FANTASY.XIII-CODEX

It's a barely acceptable port of a two year old last-gen game. You're better off supporting Ubisoft; at least their PC versions are only delayed a month.

Can someone please compare their "environment.ini" in %appdata%\Steam\CODEX\345350\remote\squareenix\lightningreturnsfinalfantasyxiii with mine?
Even after deleting the file and configuring again, only these two entries get written into:
Quote:
[Environment]
VoiceLanguage = English
DownloadContent = Disabled

All other settings always reset on a restart. Embarassed Crying or Very sad

Mine looks like

DownloadContent = Enabled

No issues with settings resetting here.

Make it read-only? Razz There's nothing else in the ini for me either atm, legit steam.

Looks much better with high resolution and sweet 60fps, the console release had horrible performance. Can't wait to check the desert for those one sand monsters which literally made the game a slideshow on both consoles due to...something.
Playing with a gamepad, gave the keyboard a try but fuck that lol

Anyway, noesis can extract the PC filelist/white container combinations if win32 in the name is renamed to x360 for example and we get the proper win32 files extracted.

I have aerith's dlc package from x360 and tried some things but of course it won't simply work, didn't even expect it. Structurally all the platforms have the same stuff but of course the files themselves can't simply work on all platforms. With 13-2's DLC we actually had the files before they removed them so they were just put back in.

this is one of the most tedious and tiring games ever made if you are a completionist.
there was quite alot of planning on paper involved for me to be able to do all the finishable quests in a single run.
the time limit coupled with quest givers appearing only at specific times of day and disappearing again after a certain while and every new day adding shitloads of such quests while you are running out of time.

this game is on my small list of "never again" games, fuck it in its infested butthole.

with that said, if you re going just for a standard story run, the time limit wont be in your way at all.

Well for a replay you could always use Cheat-Engine or a trainer once those appear and then handle the timer manually but yeah I heard it's meant to be played through over several runs as you miss certain quests easily and some of the bosses are different if you encounter them very late in the game.

Really wish the main characters voice acting wasn't so terrible. Even the japanese VA is bad so it's obviously the directors fault.
I get that she has no emotions (apparently? seemed pretty emotional to me in the first 30 minutes) but that's not a real reason to talk like a monotone robot the entire time.

I tried the hex thing but only managed to get the game running at 1440p, even though I set 3840x2160 in the file. Any ideas?

No option for the timer yet although one could use the infinite EP option temporarily and cast the chronostasis ability to freeze time and then do it again when the effect wears off as a way to manage the time limit with the current options available.

Haven't tried hex editing further since my earlier failed attempt, Cheat-Engine appears to work although it doesn't have the same options as those in GeDoSaTo so I'm hoping Durante will make a compatibility profile for this game. Smile

@JBeckman Oh right. Still new to the game and I thought infinite overclock was the time stop thing but that is actually chronostasis

I need some advice. Should I be using the dlc items early on? They seem really strong compared to what you start with. Ganna avoid it for now till I see some other weapons.

So far it seems this is the best game in the trilogy, really enjoyable so far, and also the best port, not perfect but its ok.

More blue maybe, mostly comes from the "adaptive" ambient light pp-effect, but washed out ? Are you using a monitor from the 90s? It's more colorful lol.

It's colorful in night/dark places. In daylight there are washed out colours. Or at least it looks like this in that video.

The CE table posted earlier was updated with a time freeze function though it's not fully tested yet. Smile

This CE table allows you to set the display resolution without having to do the scanning and such yourself. Smile
