Now stat-increasing backpacks go in the trinket slot instead of the backpack slot. Wtf?

For some reason they seem to have removed the different backgrounds you could use when taking a snapshot for your character portrait.

It is due to the new models being so high res it would make the backgrounds look like an 8bit Nintendo game.

Meh, gonna wait a week or so, till they patch up most of the bugs.
If they didn't even realize the crappy camera, there probably are more bad things.

To be honest, the puzzle sounded crap anyway - the kind that would make me stop playing during a replay so not sorry it's gone. Too many classic RPGs have such a tedious area where it becomes a chore to move through. Dragon Age Origins had the Fade for example.

I got sick of the puzzle since I played through the area so much in beta. But it still makes me concerned if they sacrificed anything else due to consoles.

Don't worry, there's no money to be made there. They wrongly believed they'll make crazy money, but the derpsole audience doesn't even know this genre exists. It will bomb, both this and Divinity. Hopefully they'll wake up for their next games and ditch the plastics. Sweet jesus, i hate consoles more than words can describe.

All too true. I don't hate consoles but their audience is largely crap because it's the "unwashed masses" that use them the most. The sad truth is, that games which I consider brilliant, often barely get sold. The money is in quick arcade games, not in story-based RPGs sadly enough but at least Kickstarter got us some true gems.

Yes the fade gameplay was pretty bad in Origins, because it dragged out and the 'oh this is special' feeling of the area was gone within minutes, it just wasn't special anymore.
I loved Dragon Age: Origins, and I've played through the game again on nightmare which was a big challenge until the point where I was able to mass produce potions and it sort of went okay from there.

So, the developer answered in my thread on the Steam forum that after the fix the camera is the same as in original. HAHAHHAHAHAHA, what a fucking joke.

Holy christ on a stick, I was so excited to install and play the new version again..but reading through all the posts made my Wasteland boner disappear completely. Why can't we have nice things.
I suspected that compromises would inevitably appear, egoistically (or better, logically) I never liked the idea of the franchise going multicouch to begin with and here we are, reality check. Now let's hope this flops badly so we won't have to witness the obvious

@ixigia
The camera "hotfix" helps, but it's not perfect I'm afraid. It's still worth playing though, as long as you can stomach either having a slightly closer look (at the PBR-enabled new character models, bling bling!) or having a more zoomed out vertical view.
http://i2.minus.com/ibzzQd7UxQpR8n.png Original, not fully zoomed out, goes more vertical like the DC, but this level of zoom retains isometric view granting a nicer wider shot of the battlefield without being too far out.
http://i3.minus.com/ioWPWlT2sSdbE.png Director's Cut, same level of zoom as the original which is needed to increase the viewing area... but now notice how much higher the camera has been place, how much steeper the viewing angle?
According to the devs "they're identical" and according to a couple of fangirls, we're "entitled brats" for asking to change it. Thankfully only a couple, most people have been quite vocal about getting an unlocked, better angled, camera
~edit~
Also these two images here and here showcase the difference in visuals. Seems like DC has actually been toned down a lot... a substantial amount of clutter has been removed and the terrain altered. It looks clean but also slightly more stale for it.

WOW! thats really bad. Yet another pc game gets consolified.
Good job inxile. Really. I mean I couldn't have found a better way of trying to appeal to an audience that wants nothing to do with my product, while at the same time alienate my core audience, even if I wanted too.

Sear, the dev, replied to my comparison post stating that the angles are identical .. it's just the "terrain angles" that have changed. When I pointed out that the models are indicative of the altered camera angle, he deleted his post. Oh well.. back on the shelf it goes, because I can't/won't play with the choice of "zoomed up their arses versus spying from the top of the Eiffel Tower"
Oh and there's other comparison images too, the game has taken a *substantial* dip in world detail and quality. Sure, PBR makes metal look like metal now, but at the cost of everything else - clutter, terrain, object details, everything has taken significant quantity and quality hits.

We're called entitled brats by fangirls for wanting a camera angle that makes sense?

Oh well.
Like i already wrote in this topic: Good. Now i have more time for other games.
Now for sure, as i won't bother with this Downgrade Cut anymore.

That looks genuinely disappointing...everything about that screams cheapness in the worst possible way.
And that's some David Copperfield magic for those details and assets, *poof* and here you are, a wastelander wasteland! (more authentic, mind you, we optimized it!)

You should see the private profile asswipes crawling out of the woodwork, screeching because someone dared raise an issue. You think mentioning the DEMONSTRABLE dodgy camera is bad? I dare someone to compare the massively downgraded visuals and world detail. I think they might hunt you down and kill you, seriously. I'm not going to bother posting there any more, the developers are liars and the private profile fanatics are just toxic.
If you want slightly improved "console" gameplay, get Director's Cut. If you want a better (but still awful) camera with enormously higher quality visuals, stay with the Original.

The character creation still feels very lackluster.
None of the faces, clothes or anything they let us choose looks good. They try to be funny, I get it, but it really isn't funny. It is very poor. I was hoping for improvement based on feedback. Characters mean a lot obviously to a party based RPG. Its easier to care about characters you created if they don't look like stinky doodoo.
