I think The Thing is a close contender. It has a comparable claustrophobic feeling, but with additional paranoia as anyone could be the alien.
Plus, it really holds up by today's standards, including all visual effects.

True, both Predator and The Thing holds up well even today and both are very good. I'm especially in love with the very last scene of The Thing, pretty chilling ending. ^^

Recently I've gone through a rendezvous which included most of the classic movies, and can definitely confirm that the timeless factor is intact (for me). I love practical effects so much.
