Can turn off mouse smoothing in the config file as well and see if that helps. Smile

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Soma\Main

The settings.cfg file, will have your profile name and a string of numbers in it. Smile
(There's one config file for settings and one for keybindings.)

Just set SmoothMouse="true" to SmoothMouse="false"

Try it with MSI Afterburner's RTSS frame limit set to 60 then. It often helps with weird frame pacing.

Thank you will try Smile

Oh and this might work too but if you don't limit the framerate in some other way it might cause bugs in-game.

Engine LimitFPS="true" to Engine LimitFPS="false"

Heh yeah I saw that too, think it's part of the debug mode or I suspect it is at least, seems strange to leave it in the default config file but perhaps there's a reason for it as the debug mode setting is also part of that same file.
(Along with a couple of other options.)

Oh and for graphics it seems "0" is max in terms of quality, some settings use a value of 2 (DOF for example.) which I guess is for performance related reasons, didn't really notice much of a FPS impact from setting them back to 0 and even enabled that terrain tessellation setting though I don't know if that has any effect, haven't gotten out of the first habitat or what to call it yet.

EDIT: Can you die in this game in the first place? Or do you get moved back to some different room in the same area ala Amnesia, if that's how it is I guess "god mode" in this case might just prevent the player from being knocked out but that also means having a distorted vision and noise sound effects playing forever as a hostile entity is on your ass until you leave to a separate zone should you be detected. Razz
(Throwing rocks or other heavy objects to kill entities only worked in the first Penumbra game if I remember it correctly.)

Yeah. I remember jumping onto a big shelf where a monster couldn't reach me and kept swinging the hammer for around 2-3 minutes until it died Laughing

1 and 2 are still amazing.

That's what I remember from the first Penumbra game too.

Also I found a anatomically correct female texture in this game. Razz

(Makes me wonder what it actually looks like in the game, must be wearing or be covered by something no?)

EDIT: Guess some questions would have been best left unanswered...though that's no fun. Very Happy

Amnesia had one as well, it'll be something like this: http://amnesia.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Secret_file

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

really liking it so far... cant wait to see where the story goes. graphically its not even CLOSE to how beautiful alien isolation was, but the atmosphere and the story and the overall art design is so good, it doesnt really matter.

so far im not actually finding it that scary.. granted i dont know how far in i am, this wasn't like alien where it felt unrelenting.. im finding plenty of time to explore and read through things and soak it all up, with scary moments generally appearing for a moment, causing you to be cautious.. maybe an obstacle to get past, but then it goes back to giving you some breathing room.... if it keeps up this kind of pace all the way through, ill be VERY happy.

I might've been experiencing the same problem as you, 60 fps but it looked like the game was constantly frame skipping. One of the developers on the Steam forum suggested using Adaptive Vsync in Nvidia Control Panel and that fixed it for me (also disable in-game vsync).

It looks like a minor update was released.

flesher.rar
http://www81.zippyshare.com/v/wou6uens/file.html

Goes into this folder: ".\SOMA\entities\character\flesher"

Looks like three models were changed slightly and some animations got tweaked.

EDIT: Missed a file.

viewer.rar
http://www11.zippyshare.com/v/10a0bmtM/file.html
(Folder structure kept so just place it in the games install folder and overwrite the existing file.)

Had a quick try (~1hr). Game looks very promising.
Runs poorly on laptop, but still playable if you put on your peasant boots. Engine is weird, does 60fps in dark areas and sub-30 in well lit areas... never seen this weird behavior, it's not like there's some super-dynamic lighting effect, it happens even if you just turn the light on in your apartment at the beginning... really strange.

This game has awesome atmosphere but the main character's voice actor sucks. He sounds like he's in awe rather than fearing his situation.

And DSR does work, I just checked. But it messes up the mouse in the game menu.

DSR doesn't work for me on the fresh 355.98 drivers. just zooms the image. Sad

shame, cause gpu usage is super low.

What drivers are you on randir14? I don't care about the mouse, playing this with a gamepad anyway.

Okay, some dude in steam forums figured it out.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/282140/discussions/0/517142253878881513/#c517142253879831935

basically, manually editing the desired DSR resolution makes it work, but you can't mess with in game settings after that or it zooms again.

just tried it. I think i'll be able to pull off 3K, as 4K gpu usage in the first room is 80%, and I'm guessing it gets more demanding.

1280x800. everything maxed out except for two disabled options in the end and I think I had shadows set to low or disabled, no AA... I had like 30-40+ fps depending on the situation.(a bit overclocked hd4000)

Anyways, it doesn't matter. In a few days I'll get a dedicated gpu and... continue playing witcher 3 Very Happy
