If it turns out Stan was the Bird man all along, working on someone's orders and they killed him to get rid of the middle man, I'm gonna lose my shit.

The way this season is going it looks like it could have easily just been 4 fucking episodes and nothing would have been lost.

Putting those knife flourishes to the test was a bonus. So much gun-fire in these so I can appreciate some melee.

HBO Boss loves season 2 of True Detective.

He probably greenlit all the season of True Blood too.

If this cock really did care for Nic then he would have given him 2 years instead of rushing him to write another season.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Its really important to note that season 1 could be regarded as a completely different show. Season 2 is getting flack because it isn't as special as Season 1, and rightly so, because of a fucking confusing plot and worse actors. An issue of too many chefs almost, I'd dare guess. 3 main characters versus 2 from last season, and they're all supposed to have stuff going on in their lives, and it sometimes makes following the 'actual' point of the show harder in my opinion. That's not something to make a show worse by itself though, look at GoT with a million characters, its simply that there isn't enough care for these three characters to make it interesting to follow.
This last ep was the most interesting to me because it looked like they actually did detective stuff, undercover and all... what happened before this last ep (with the orgy party etc) is all a blur to me.

Wow, what an episode. That was intense (and tense). I have to say I'm really looking forward to the finale.
I have some theory. Is it possible that...
Spoiler: |
the guy who raped Ani was Caspere? So it was her dad who murdered him using the help from his secretary (who as we know now is one of the 2 orphan siblings from the 92 robbery/double murder)?

This episode just further proves the point that if the season was just 4 episodes it could have been amazing.

The episode was season 1 quality. I second the opinion that if the season was shorter it would have been a lot better.
Spoiler: | It's a real shame about Paul. I didn't feel his issues were resolved. His character arc wasn't finished approprietly. They never really went anywhere with his fears and weaknesses. It was rather easy to do. He could have just phoned and confessed to Velcoro or his family and it would have been a lot more satysfing. Farrell and McAdams characters grew from their experiences and even found closure in each other. Paul stayed the same, troubled as ever and just faded away. Maybe it was intentional, but it just didn't felt right. |

What happened with Spoiler: | the killer with the animal mask who shot Velcoro? | Did the show just forget about that guy?

Spoiler: | They didn't reveal it tonight. The most logical choices are the vinci pd lieutenant or one of the orphan kids, whose parents were murdered in the 92 heist by the police and administration involved in the land deal. It explains why Velcoro was left alive and Frank's troubles were just collateral damage. |

They've been talking about him in the last 2 eps, especially in the scenes with Semyon.

Oh, I didn't know he was the guy who killed Spoiler: | Caspere. | I thought he was some serial killer who would become relevant to the plot later on.

as for this season i'm really enjoying it but it was never going to be as good as season 1 which seemed to be a freak accident, none the less it's still enjoyable and better than 90% of the trash airing right now
i also think vince vaughn has done a fairly decent job, I expected him to be utterly horse shit but he's surprised me pleasantly. my biggest gripe is with the pretentious dialogue but that's the writers, not him.

Naturally, you don't read this thread - or any TV-show thread - if you haven't seen the latest episode. Just sayin as a general notice.
Anyway, I'll add spoiler tags:
Spoiler: | I really like TV shows where the main characters aren't god-like, and that they in fact are mortals like any of the villains they shoot. Like this last episode, where one of the three main detectives kills a lot of dudes, like in most superhero shows, but dies at the end anyway.
What I like about it is that it makes every dangerous situation less predictable. It makes it a probability that someone important won't survive. Many 'typical' TV-shows won't have this, beacuse the main character(s) are meant to be part of next season, and the season after that. It just makes for better TV that you don't always know that the heroes will survive. |

That was excellent, the season has definitely turned into what I was expecting from the very beginning. The pacing issues have been resolved and everything's at its place.
The outcome was quite surprising, but not in a bad way, since it almost felt like a natural consequence to me.
Or well, maybe they're rock salt tomato rounds again

We've got to admit though, some of his lines are truly golden. "In the midst of being gang banged by forces unseen, I figure I’d drill a new orifice, go on and fuck myself for a change."
