Pretty sure it's you being ignorant rather than your country being a special snowflake in the world.
To clarify: Certain laws can be different, but governments will always interfere in commerce and trading.

Well... even they interfere with trades and commerce!
I think it be more realistic to think he lives in some bubble or biodome.

Same-sex marriages are not allowed in Estonia so no such wedding cakes would be needed, I guess

He has previously demonstrated a rather skewed and overtly simplistic (naive?) understanding on how things work. That said, right now the argument is about some weird extremes.
His standing point is that the government does not go around places of business telling them the amount they are allowed to charge for each item. This is obviously true, since it's a (relatively) "free market" and prices are not directly set by the government - we are no longer part of the USSR, after all.
Of course the prices are indirectly influenced by the government via taxes and regulations on certain goods and services, but that's another matter.
As for the rest, he is obviously mostly wrong when you put it in such absolute terms. The government can easily (and already does) tell who you can and can't do business with. Simplest example - tobacco and alcohol, both "when" and "who" are regulated by law. There is nothing preventing the government from imposing similar limits on other goods.
There are also laws against discrimination, but only part of those apply to rendering services and selling goods. It's illegal to refuse service based on ethnicity, race or skin color, but there is no such specific law when it comes to sexual orientation. In this case the protection is more limited and applies to things like education and work.

Do not discriminate against gays != love the gays
|
does not that work also other way around - if you do not wanna serve gay people ≠ you hate them

No law saying you have to serve ignorant people either, yet we still reply and have you post here.
Estonia right?
I may be wrong, and feel free to correct me since I only just found it, but it looks like there is. Last row, "anti discrimination laws" column

I bet if it was a Muslim family who would deny making X to any non-Muslim due to their religious beliefs you asswipes would be outraged and scream murder. But because it's a X-ian bunch discriminating against homosexuals it's suddenly A-OK.
What a bunch of kurwas some of you are, really! |
You can't compare apples with oranges. Muslims already force their believes on everyone despite being immigrants which is very different from a century-long tradition of Christianity in the US. If a Muslim in Morocco did such a thing I'd shrug and say "well it's only natural in a Muslim country". Again, apples and oranges ...
Besides, in this case, this is not about whether they were bigots which they clearly are. It's about how utterly stupid those two women were - not to mention greedy and selfish.
The LGBT community should openly denounce them because what they did, is make sure that the kids of those parents will hate anything remotely gay for the rest of their lives. Well done. Bravo. You just made another generation of gay-haters all because you got your knickers in a twist. Again, just like what feminists are doing today.
You'd think their goal would be to make people be more open minded but all they do, is beat people down, force their opinion on them and then use force to make laws change in their favour. It's despicable and completely NOT the way you should do things. |
Ok, so you're taking two apples and painting one of them orange then telling me I'm comparing apples to oranges.
You forget that Christians in the US of mofo A are the immigrants, those who came before them aren't Christians (but let's ignore that as it's not convenient in this case) but rather 'savages' who needed saving by almighty god. 'Luls, is x-ian nations...luls! cuz I r dumb dats y is x-ian nations!'
I'm pretty sure those who are suing the company are doing it either because they are opportunistic and/or because they're trying to set an example. Either way, the bakery deserves to get sued due to refusing them service BECAUSE of their sexual orientation, not because they had some weird idea of how they wanted their cake made.
