Patrick Harris is terrible. So much CGI my eyes hurt.
I GET IT, count Olaf is BAD, what's the point in pointing that every freaking minute.
But when the singing started... oh wow.
How did it get such good reviews?
Can't say I agree on the whole. I mean, yes, it's shot cheaply with green screens replaced in post by spotty CGI. And the first half of the first ep was rather boring.
But then Harris came on screen and he's great! I'm in the second episode and I really enjoy watching him!

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
Mmm.. Not as great eps 3+4, still good, though. The show is just ridiculous (by design), so I laugh, yes, but I just cannot fully buy it!
I also noticed the author of the books wrote most of the scripts, which is nice. edit Haha, and the director of those episodes is the original director of the movie adaptation which was going to be based on the author's script, before they both left. It seems Netflix gave them a second chance.

Great show, watching it with the kids and all of us are enjoying it.
The writing is really sharp and witty, with a few perverted lines that will fly over the kids' heads,
Harris' performance is also great, having grown up with Seinfeld I could never bear to watch trite sitcoms like How I met your mother, but this guy is a decent actor overall.
I don't know...there's something off: pace is not the best (alwayws the same rythm), dialogues too (not really memorable jokes or one liners), characters are a bit forgettable.
Maybe I've got a too nice memory of Jim Carrey's version, or maybe this version simply can't get to that level...
I'm on 3rd episode too, but don't have great desire nor expectations for the remaining ones.
It's like an edward gorey graphic. Adorably morbid.
It's pretty good especially when the characters have to behave in a certain way.
Passed out mid episode 2, and woke up near the end of episode 4. But I liked what I saw. Especially the fake performance in episode one.

Yeah, Jim Carrey, that's why I didn't like it too. I instantly compared it to the movie version which was much better IMO. Jim Carrey was perfect as Olaf.

Finished it. The first 4 eps were the best. The others weren't so good.. some of them were pretty weak actually and Ep6 in particular was pretty bad.
Also they explained absolutely nothing about what's going on with the codes, spyglasses and such. I don't care if at that point in the books nothing was explained, they should have put something in the last episode! Come on!!!

Yeah the series is almost beat by beat like the film, up until the ending at least, they differ there a bit.
But there are like what, 13 books and the series covers 2 or 3 of them?
So there might be more adventures coming up on netflix with the bouderoux kids.
Season 1: Books 1-4
Season 2: Book 5-9
Season 3: Books 10-13
Each book is adapted in 2 episodes.

By "a bit" you mean it adapts a whole another book.
The movie adapted books 1-3, and had the ending of book 1 as its ending. The series went up to book 4.
