Sure, now you have a bit more advanced A.I., and a slick graphical engine, but you also have shitty music (apart from the two chase tracks), and the whole "street racing scene" bullshit. It doesn't fly with me.

Next NFS needs to be completly, 100% centered around law enforcement evasion/harrassment, and the bullshit plot should be replaced with a crime/getaway type drama (globe hopping in exotic foreign cars purchased from earnings as a getaway driver for X illegal orginization). But no, that won't be cool enough. It shall repel all the mainstream fuckin idiots and thus result in a loss in sales. Ergo, E.A. won't even consider that one Razz

*sigh* One can hope, right?

I agree! NFS3 was the first one I tried, and it brings back lots of memories Smile

this poll is like asking me to pick my favourite cancer. They all suck, so you just gotta go for the one that sucked the least. Hot Pursuit 1998.

No it wasn't. When the Panasonic 3DO was out, Sega still only had the Genesis and Sega CD. Saturn didnt come out for at least a year later.

Here ya go...a full breakdown on Need For Speed history.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. This game was awesome in multiplayer, and had excellent graphics for it's time (as far as I remember Wink)
The original Need For Speed also holds a special place, it was the first game I bought on CD-ROM (for... uhm, about $70), and it was worth it. The nice presentation-videos of the cars was a nice "oooh, look what's possible with CD-ROM!"-thing.

The first PC I bought came with a full version NFS2 SE and I remember playing it split screen with my friends all through summer. Never have I spent so much time on an NFS game since then.

AGREE, i want to race my Noble in abandoned research station roads in Antarctica!
I want to race in my uber-pretty Ferarri 360 on the long beaches in Brazil!
I want diversity!! I want snow and jungles! I want time-of-day!
I dont want 1 game where it ALWAYS is night or ALWAYS day..
I dont want an ugly hip-hop dirt-filter effect, which can be seen in most hip-hop music videos as well..
I dont want hip-hop only. I dont want other crapmusic just to be different.
I want classic car-riding songs, i want an ingame mp3 player!
I want exotic cars! I want to buy my own engine and my own brakes, i dont want a package imaginatively called "Super-Pro" that just moves a few ticks to the Right representing speed..

That said, NFS 3 Hot Pursuit was and will always be my favorite =)

Ha! Porsche is getting more votes than MW! Keep it up, folks!

Now that I think about it, Porsche Unlimited is the only NFS I actually bought. And that was AFTER I had downloaded it and beat it.

GO PORSCHE!!

NFS2 SE gets my vote, we LAN:ed it very hard i remember, trying to beat the AI-drivers so that we came in first and second...Nowadays, racing games seldom has AI-drivers in LAN, wich is a shame cos its real fun when you just have two computers.
And if there was a second, it would be NFS3 HP, we LAN:ed that to, 2 of my friends and i.
We always started out with some NFS racing, then moved on to Rouge Spear and OP Flashpoint. (That was an underrated game, really).
Third place, if there was one, has to be Porche...Great singleplayer.

My vote goes to Porsche Unleashed also, out of all the nfs games this one had the best handling.
These new nfs games are just too arcadey.

I voted for NFS3 as I really liked the police vs racer thing, and it did also bring allot new into the NFS series. I also liked NFS:PU and it's definitely on the second place.
