I think this is exactly why I dont find this impressive. I dont feel like this is a demo. This looks like a short movie. Which obviously is impressive
So dont group wie me KC please (not saying you did)

And no, I don't think the reflections are totally wrong at all, they're some of the best reflections I've seen outside of film
Im talking about the reflection of the boy. Why is he reflected by water 10+ m away? And directly afterwards his whole lower body is reflected like this.
It's a "short movie" looking almost Pixar quality and it's running and rendering in real time on our systems. How is that NOT impressive? It's like the Samaritan stuff from nVidia, only this one is believable because you can actually run it for yourself.. you're not left thinking "I believe nVidia are bullshitting with their preposterous claims of Samaritan running realtime on a single 680" - here you can render the short movie, or you can walk/drone fly around an enormous open world with the very same visual quality. Again; all in realtime.
Oh and that red blip in the background? It looks like a boat, not his reflection.
The rendering of character is ok but it's thanks to their temporal aa technique and motion/object based motion blur... that plus post processing.
The landscape itself looks just ok. Bleak plains with taxing grass. Anterworld did almost that years ago. Strength of UE4 is in materials and AA.
Maybe you should watch this and get educated on how they actually created this:
It is impressive on a technical level but its downright stupid saying that iam not impressed because I dont know technical quirks. Why should I care for anything else that its a nice looking field running at 7 fps and eating all goddamn ram ?

Ah, yeah.. I see it It's like the water in that scene doesn't have far plane depth. I've seen THAT in practically every game and engine that tries to do reflections.. even the same for heat shimmer, which ends up warping the entire world around whatever is "shimmering" Still doesn't negate how impressive the overall thing is and if it takes a dodgy reflection in a few ms of a scene, then I guess that's just reaching and I take it as a good thing
Yeah definitely, the demo just made me look. And when I start looking I start comparing to reality, which raises the bar a bit
Though I must say, Ill be really damn happy, when there will be no more need of visible streaming or loading assets or limiting view distance for certain objects. Its painfully obvious when flying around with great view distance as is the case here

Don't worry, as long as you don't prefer KC's version, it's fine!

Yep it looks great, especially the landscape. But i find the UE4 demos of those interiors much more impressive.
Too bad it still will be a long time, till we have that quality in real games.

You can download the demo and play it on 7fps on your 2x Titans
Or 60fps+++ on a single 780? \o/ I just ran both demos and they're absolutely gorgeous! The Scandinavian apartment is poor though, the layout and the style is just meh.. whereas the London apartment is incredible.
Tried both demos too. I got between 30-45 fps with my 7870 on both.
The Londong loft indeed looks awesome at first sight. But then you notice that everything besides the reflections is just static. That's especially noticeable at the pillows and the bed. It just looks like some object with a photorealistic texture. Would have been more awesome, if the bed for example reacted to your weight
