Toy Soldiers: War Chest, the third game in Signal Studios' tower defense/action hybrid series, will arrive on 11th August for Xbox One and PC. PS4 players will receive it the following day.
The game's standard edition will include four fictitious armies, but you can add an additional four licensed armies by either purchasing the game's Hall of Fame edition ($29.99), snagging the Legendary Heroes' Pack ($14.99), or buying them individually ($4.99 each).
The licensed armies include:G.I. Joe, the all-American hero; his nemesis Cobra Commander; Assassin's Creed 2's dashing playboy Ezio Auditore da Firenze; or He-Man of Masters of the Universe fame.
Game has a 30 FPS cap (And a useless Hz option but it's unrelated to framerate, you can choose 30 or 60 but why would you ever chose 30? 60 and 120 would have been useful though I suppose - although it really should just use what the monitor is set to. - but again it doesn't affect the FPS cap.) anyway it also has UPlay and you get half the game / the base game for I think it was 15 $ or you can pay 30 $ and you get the four additional armies, for those few (if any) who are actually planning on buying the game just don't add the complete DLC if you get the premium version of the game as it will add nothing and you'll just waste 15 $ (Less of a problem now with the refund option but still.)
(Alternatively sacrifice online play and get the above mentioned Codex release for 0 $ )
EDIT: Oh yeah there's a in-game store and you earn a small amount of silver coins from normal play or you can buy packs of them for real money, I suppose Cheat-Engine or trainers might completely be able to bypass this micro-transaction stuff too if so desired unless it's server controlled.

How does the solo campaign work? Separate mission for each 8 faction, separate missions only for base 4 factions or just one campaign where you can choose whatever faction to play with???
Also is there skrimish vs. AI mimicking MP?
I only did the tutorial mission but it's a straight map with linear progression from level to level where I assume you get to play as all four base factions as you progress, have to finish the first real campaign map to unlock the Phantom faction and then for finishing the second and third map you unlock the StarBright and DarkLord factions. (So initially you are locked to the Kaiser faction unless you have any of the DLC packs but I don't know if those work in the campaign, probably intended for multiplayer or AI skirmish.)
EDIT: Having never played these types of games before you can also outfit your units with new upgrades and your faction hero has a main and secondary weapon (With a bonus UPlay reward weapon as a unlock, usually a reskinned and slightly different version of their "best" secondary gun.) also you have different abilities all of which are unlocked with silver coins.
(I don't know exactly what they do but the store also has toy boxes for each faction for 1000 and 2000 coins respectively with the more expensive version adding some more stuff, anyways these probably add I think it's new units and equipment, possibly it unlocks upgrades too.)
EDIT: Also you can XP and level up and after the battle you have a chance to gain a reward package, so far it seems these unlock more tiers of upgrades for your turret type defenses. (IE initially you only have tier-1 upgrades for range, reload speed and damage but this way you unlock the second and third tier of upgrades though what you get is random, I got lucky during the tutorial battle and got nearly all of the upgrades for the basic machine gun nest after finishing that little intro to the game.)
EDIT: "You can XP!" -> You gain XP.
(Stop thinking of one word while writing another, JB! )
EDIT: Come to think of it since you choose your hero from the main menu that might affect the campaign too.
(But will it be the same campaign with only your available units as the difference?)
Played the first five missions now. It's okay at first, but gets boring really quick.
- The singleplay missions are of the same layout. Chosing a hero just gives you different units/towers.
- Performance is a fucking joke, for how it looks. Like already mentioned by others it's locked to 30. But sometimes even then drops to 25 or less.
- Controls with mouse/keyboard suck too. Aiming with mouse is harder than with the gamepad.
- And game is so damn easy. Or that future girl faction is overpowered with that plasma cannon.
trying to fly a plane/airborne vehicle is a mess.you gently touch the mouse to steer left and the things performs multiple rolls and spazs out completly

(Laser and Napalm but I don't know if those are the actual names of what looks like two new factions.)
