So Project Reality just updated to an standalone version, Battlefield 2 its not required anymore, the game is quite similar to Insurgency but in a bigger environment and with vehicles (land, air and sea), graphics could scare some of you, but the gameplay orientated to a simulation style is pretty awesome with large maps and 100 player, with no AI. The best thing... IT'S FREE!!
Also with the Standalone release they are not finish yet, they still have plans to add more maps, gameplay mods (WWII and Falklands war confirmed) and fixes could need.
To install it you just need to download the image from this torrent (it's 7Gb), mount it with your favorite program (i use Daemon Tools) and Install it.
This is where SQUAD was born. I hope to see some humpers on the field!

Plenty of games like that? Like what? I only recall Arma 2, Arma 3, Insurgency (smaller environment) and in a future SQUAD. This is not a Call of Duty or Battlefield, this is more like insurgency or arma series.
Looks better than Squad actually. That one really gave a bad vibe compared to this one.
Think it's worth a try, so going to give it a shot in the coming days.
People that are done with mediocore shooters like COD should really try this one.
The learning curve and gameplay is not as steep as the ArmA series, but not as easy as Battlefield itself, it's somewhere between.
Large maps, realistic (slow) gameplay, 1 round per map can take up to 3 hours or more, integrated positional + radio communication, intense rounds searching for Talibans/Insurgents, ...
The graphics are a step back because they are using the Battlefield 2 engine, but once you have played some rounds you'll be addicted to this jewel.
I mean... do anyone ever really play those total conversions ?
I am surprised it is getting released at all. Those things are always announced and forgotten and if eventually released, are underwhelming and way to late.
And people who are wowing it, wont even try playing it for most part

its a great game, and the modding community at its best
dont expect quick games , u will be invested on one map for an hour minimum, slowpaced but once things heat up u will love it if u are a team player and not some bf3 or bf4 cod junky
When you right click and call medic you see medic icons appear on map, I am guessing that is all one needs to do?
One seems to only have one field dressing when spawning as non medic class? I used that once after a small hit and kept bleeding out and was quite bad, can I get assistance by myself to fix that or does that mean calling another medic that don't appear.
If so already seen two medics last night run right over me and not do a damn thing.
How do you access the kit boxes where you spawn etc? I have tried all the keys available and yet it seems people gear up in these or so and I just can't seem to get access to those crates.

u need 2-3 field dresssings if u get shot, the one u get is so u use it and run to a medic without losing to much blood. Pick up enemy kits and use their dressings too.
u need to use the ingame voice coms to shout at the medic to revive u, but many new players atm so u cant expect them to get it right away, just keep calling for a medic on coms and in the game rightlcikcing
