Hoping for a bigger, more open sequel, with gameplay improvements. But even if its another missed opportunity, at least we get to see more of the epic sci-fi world they've created. So Much Win

also, consolitis, go play resident evil 35, leave real games to real men Cool Face

This game was pretty cool, it lacked deph in the combat for sure, it wasnt a batman either, but the atmosphere, the graphics, the universe and sci fi vibe was really cool.

I wouldn't say utter shit but completely forgettable plot and gameplay yeah.

LOL @sausje thinking I have something against the game just because I tell things as they are: it wasn't reviewed favorably, it didn't find a big audience, it didn't sell well, it was under development for a long time (5 years) thus it can't be of much of a low budget, it wasn't some kind of hit, rumors of the developer going bankrupt were commonplace at some point, the publisher doesn't care for a sequel and never bothered to report its sales figures, and the developer was forced to go with lower budget episodic game after its failure.

I'd like to note that I don't believe it's the arrows that make the platforming bad. Even if you could somehow remove them don't forget that the heroine does NOT jump in any other direction than where she has to go no matter how much you try.

So it's 100% impossible to fail on platforming once you made the first jump successfully. The platforming has really been designed for brain dead people..

Those can be cool all they want. Gameplay is still extremely important in a game, for me anyway. And it was severely lacking in this. I had no desire to PLAY it. If it was a movie it would have been better.

I was going to bother explaining whi I gave specifically consolitis that treatment (others have criticized the writing in the game since and I don't feel like I have to argue with them), but then I realized whose post it was Laughing

Those are good examples for sure, but there are better parts in this game that show you this blade runnnerish scenery.. wich most wont care for, but i really enjoyed it, the graphics are not top notch, but the artwork is insanely good, same with games like dishonored and others..

It is one of those games where they totaly went for style over substance, for sure, same with The order recently and other games, doesnt mean they are crap, heck there are games that are really crap and have all the ingredients to be a good game, wich these lack in plenty, in the end, some ppl can be content with a visual/ambience experience, lacking gameplay and other elements.

I have enjoyed games like bioshock infinite, Alan wake, Some of the assassins creed, because the vibe those games pulled off really sunk me in for sure, but for some people that is not enough, also, sometimes the story can be cliche or unoriginal at the core, but still be well executed and well told in the visual and immersivess of the context of the game.

To me the atmosphere in games can really pull me in, i could not finish games like metal gear rising wich has superb gameplay, but still i wasnt immersed in it.

Metro is another good example of shallow gameplay, yet, the atmosphere is insanely good, the story is nothing to write home about either, it rly took they 2 games over the span of 16hours to tell a story that fits in like 5 lines, but i really enjoyed it, the way it was told, was very well executed.

Bioshock infinite is another example, gameplay is very repetitive, kinda simple also, but it suits the game in a suficient manner, but the way they tell the story, with such mystic dialog and imagery, its really immersive imo, the artwork alone is worth playing the game for.

Bottom line, devs focus on different aspects of a game, Remember me lacked more than the games i mentioned but its still imo a decent game, far from "crap" , once in a while some games come along in wich the devs exceed in all the ingredients, but that is very, very rarely done, imo the last game that did this was ME2, that game had good story, good action, some rpg elements, some exploring elements, some drama, some funny stuff, it really fit in every single category, but not all games have to be like that or should be, and thats just my opinion on gaming in general..

Just finished this in one sitting after having picked it up on the Steam sale for $6 today.

The visuals (above all the atmosphere - reminded me of Blade Runner crossed with The Fifth Element for some reason), voice-work, music, and story were fucking top notch. Once I got past the repetitive combat and wonky camera angles, the game had me more or less completely immersed.

And the story, while I won't say too much regarding it so as not to spoil it, really speaks to the human condition in a subtle but powerful way.

This game was basically a work of fucking art from start to finish hampered only by a few technical shortcomings. I really hope they do a sequel soon.

Play it if you haven't!

P.S. What was the name of that site where a guy did ultra-high res wallpapers of game scene stills? Can't remember it for the life of me (no, the irony in this statement isn't lost on me... )

i loved the art, atmosphere and story, but the shitty combat just got in the way, they should completely remove it.

And yes, the game was spectacular. I even started enjoying the combat once I got over the initial brain-malfunction caused by the horrible "hit pause" stuff. Art, music, story, characters, loved it all.

ReShade preset and some ini tweaks someone made, not a huge fan of the excessive DOF and reflections myself but those effects are easily disabled via the various ReShade .cfg files. Smile
(Reflective bump as it's called makes every surface shiny since it's limited in what it can't and can detect as a post-process effect, heavy DOF like this works well for screens but not for normal gameplay though there's a toggle key for it as well.)

Finished this today, agree with the other reviews, combat was a bit repetitive, but at least they gave you the opportunity to change the combos, as each of the buttons had a different move.

Hats off for the world and music they created.
