At least UKIP were "promising" to abolish many of the reforms the ConArtists put into place. At this point, I'd rather have a bunch of racist skinheads running the country if it meant actually running it for the majority rather than the rich overlords.

That may be true, but they'd also send an already highly weakened economy into the abyss, making the UK follow Spain, Italy and Greece. The UK is in a shit state as it is, the last thing it needs is a bunch of chavs who haven't got a fucking clue of how the world works running it

Is the difference between the center parties so big that it matters?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Oh great, 5 more "wonderful" years of the tories ahead...
Still could have been worse, the idea of UKIP getting any real power was terrifying. Also Labour needs to pull their finger out and choose someone with an ounce of charisma for 2020.

It's a problem when people vote on charisma rather than policy. But what can be expected from a population who gets their info from the sun tabloid. |
It is sad how charisma driven everything is now. Clement Attlee was famously a terrible public speaker but is generally considered to be one of the best labour leaders the country ever had.

the British chose good.
"Ed Miliband is a sinister populist, like all socialists.
Clegg is passable but inconsistent.
Farage (UKIP) is a vendor of fears, a sad clown belonging to the Nazi-Putinist species.
Greens are the new communists, full of resentment and egalitarian talk and their leader has an updated Trotsky speech in social engineering.
Nicola Sturgeon with her left-nationalist-populist speech in that grotesque Scottish accent to mark the difference between her and the brits.
the Welsh chick ( PC) and the guy from Northern Ireland have a program built on resentment towards UK. "
all in all, the UK voted OK.

Not in my opinion. I've always thought of Labour as being fairly centre when it comes to economics.

The thing that annoys me most is that the British public are too stupid to see what is good for them. The Tories have done nothing but help the rich. Another thing is the articles in Murdoch's papers spreading all that propaganda. I feel sick that the Tories have another 5 years of making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Even John Major isn't happy about what the government has done over the last 5 years.

It's happening everywhere tho... people bitch on the current party/coalition and voting time: everyone loses their memory and vote on the same crap.
Not that I expect real change if someone else would win... but at least you're not voting the same and expecting a difference.

Their ideology of hate is stupid, why would they suddenly make something smart for the country? At the first chance of personal benefit they'd abandon ship and leave you alone.

Labour were never gonna get in with Milliband at the helm. They were doomed the minute he back stabbed his own brother.

Yup, and at least he stepped down over it;
Quote: | Dear Ethan,
This is not the email I wanted to be writing to you today. I am profoundly sorry for the defeat we suffered, and more grateful than I can express for the support that you have shown me, and our party, throughout this campaign.
I take full responsibility for the result of the election, and that’s why it’s absolutely right that I step down as Labour’s leader today.
It has been the utmost privilege to serve this party as your leader, and to spend the last four-and-a-half years fighting for the millions of British families who need and deserve the fairness, compassion and opportunity that only a Labour government can provide.
Yet while defeats are hard, we are a party that will never stop fighting for the working people of this country. Britain needs a strong Labour Party and it is the responsibility of each of us to continue the fight. The stakes are too high to wait for others to lead.
It isn’t simply leaders who achieve change, it is people that make change happen. I will never give up on that idea, I will never give up on our cause and I will never give up on our fight.
Thank you again for everything, and please, keep on fighting too. The course of progress and social justice is never simple or straightforward, and change happens because people like us don’t give up.
Yours,
Ed |
