And just a standard tour around the city. Between the U-Bahn and your feet you can easily cover all the points of interest within a day (U-Bahn is ridiculously cheap too).
Leisure or work Pumpy? If you haven't picked a place to stay yet, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Generator Hostel Mitte

Watch out for gypsies.
Don't wait to sign any petition boards that small kids gypsy kids will try to get you to sign.
Stay away from the church next to the tv tower.

Haven't been there in 17 years, but I found it kinda expensive and overrated.

I've been there during high school, it was a good old trip with the most careless professors available at that time. I only remember the zoo, Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate which is even too much considering that we were always drunk
I liked the atmosphere though

So I arrived in Berlin yesterday, great atmosphere, people were chilled. Some public parties and some places looked a bit dirty, but the weather was fantastic. No trouble at all at any place and we made a very long (and unplanned) tour by foot, starting at tiergarten, where we stay, over the Siegesessäule, to the Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor, Checkpoint Charly, Gedächtniskirche, Alexanderplatz and Fernsehturm (and everything inbetween)... This city is really easy to navigate by foot and without using any sort of guide we basically visited all the important hotspots at once just by following the next nice looking building on the horizon
And I prefer to have 100.000 left wing "assholes" around me than 1 neonazi, so I don't even care. The only thing that bothered me was that berlin natives drive like entitled asshats and use the horn waay too much.
Quite accidentially before arriving in Berlin we also made a small trip through Weimar, which I visited almost 17 years ago for the last time and it was still a nice place... but to my surprise some 40-50 neonazis attacked left politicians and union people, protesting against newly planned places for asylum seekers.
@Eps: Yeah, those gypsies looked like level 60 gypsies compared to the lvl 5 gypsies in frankfurt I'll stay away from them

@PumpAction
I was in Berlin a couple of years ago with my mother cause she really wanted to see the many weinachtsmärkte thats around the city during that time.
We were in the city for five days, the second day we experienced a robbery by gypsies at the aforementioned church, luckily neither of us had wallets with us but the three guys got a mobile phone and a hundred euro or so.
Then the day after we went to weinachtsmarkt during the evening and that place was fucking crowded, I mean people were like fish in a barrel.
And again I noticed there were a lot of gypsy kids there, so I kept extra attention if anyone were to try and pickpocket anything, despite keeping all my money in my inner shirt pocket.
As we were walking towards a set of shops I suddenly felt something in my coat pocket, so I immediately grabbed whatever it was and squeezed really hard around what felt like a hand. Behind me I heard someone going eeerrhhg!. I turned around and looked straight into the face of a very old gypsy woman.
The shock of being faced with an old woman, her hand deep in my pocket made me let go and she ran off with the speed otherwise only reserved for the youth.
tl;dr got raped by an old gypsy.

Clearly you have not visited Romania for a long time
Max level gypsies there. |
Why don't you dump them like France recently did. |
Yeah, just pay them their tickets to fly back home

Don't forget Bulgaria.
It's a shame nothing is done to stop this trans-European problem.
