Is this a generally good advice? Will it shorten the lifespan of my hdd if I won't let it go to sleep when not used? If I just browse or watch a stream, my hdd will go to sleep regularly and then spin back on just so that I can shutdown the pc or similar.. |

It depends on how you use your computer. If you let your computer idle for days, it is actually healthier to have it spin down. But if you often leave your PC for a few hours, then sit again, having it spin down and spin up constantly is not healthy.
