I guess 3DM simply didn't know about the random/time-based authentication check (though the smallprint for the game's license and store page does, indeed, mention it) so when the date came around for it to check, the DRM triggers and locks people out. Same in the legit version as well, if you're playing offline. People have tested v3/v4 crack by setting their dates forward to >31st of April and it still works, so it looks like they may have removed it completely now.

the fix i looked up was about changing the settings in regedit which didn't work.

that issue seems to be related to wired 360 controllers (or that driver). had my ds2 hooked up via adapter which gets recognized as 360 controller and was wondering why the pause menu showed up several times, disconnected it -> voila problem gone. but i was to lazy to recheck with a "real" wired 360 controller, but i think same issue. wireless controller on = no problems

Using wireless X360 gamepad here. And had the problem, weird.
I think this issue was introduced by the last update (the one before this one) though.

Last update as in, Update2? If so.. I had it as well. It was driving me crazy at times, randomly pausing and opening the menu. I thought my controller was on the fritz but it only did *very* rarely and at random occasions.

You can also use v4 crack too, just don't install Update3 as that brings new glitches.
Then dont join the Hump crew and just stay offline altogether. We others have been done with SP and want to play the expansive MP part.
