Quote: | Ballots have been finalized for the MMO Hall of Fame class of 2015 and the fourth annual MMO Hall of Fame induction ceremony has arrived. Two new inductees have been voted in by the MMO Hall of Fame Voting Committee. The games being inducted are Anarchy Online (released in 2001) and Lineage 2 (released in 2004)
This year’s ballot added 42 new entries for games introduced in 2009 including League of Legends, Aion and Runes of Magic. There were a grand total of 173 game candidates that were eligible this year. “There was an enormous amount of competition, but after tallying all the numbers only two games reached the required 60% of the votes to enter the Hall of Fame,” said Doug Kale, curator of the MMO Hall of Fame.
These games were selected based on their major contributions to the massively multiplayer online gaming industry as well as to the millions of fans who have enjoyed them over the years.
The 2015 MMO Hall of Fame Nominating Committee consists of gaming industry notables: J. Todd Coleman (Creative Director of Shadowbane, Wizard101, Pirate101, Crowfall), Andreas Weidenhaupt (CEO of Infernum Productions), Carsten van Husen (CEO, Gameforge), Mark Hill (Senior Manager, Perfect World Entertainment), Terri Perkins (Legal Compliance Director, Funcom), Richard Vogel (President, BattleCry Studios), Eric Bloom (Gamer, Lead Vocalist of Blue Oyster Cult), William Murphy (Managing Editor, MMORPG.com) and Carolyn Koh (MMO Gaming Writer) and Jane Yun (Global PR Manager, WEBZEN). |

Not really relevant their hall of fame, and I'd think if they were serious about it you'd see some more epic names from the industry than those.
Not that AO and Lineage wouldn't deserve it tho. The being around for that long alone justifies them.

I loved Anarchy Online!
Too bad those stupid fucks fumbled their shit and didn't do a sequel before their company turned into vapor.

Demoted to fucking lego/indie budget games yeah, they're fucking "around".
They'll never touch a big project again ever.

euhm ... Age of Conan or more recently "the secret world"
Funcom did a LOT for mmo's. Well, they implented a lot of awesome stuff (which sadly where mostly hindered by horrendous, i.e. early, releases.
But they released 3 great mmo's. 3 great and VERY different mmo's.
I can't think of anyone else who has done that lol.
edit : wasn't aware of their "Lego MMO".
oh well.
Anyway, finally got around to "finish" the main story of TSW, but i couldn't see myself spending another 50 bucks (20+29) for the "additional" stories and tokyo.
Still having my fingers crossed for a new engine AO haha.

Lineage 2 is the most depressing game I have ever tried, I can't fathom how anyone who's not an Asian robot built to grind 24/7 could derive any pleasure from it.

Now, I don't know what hardware costs in Poland, I guess it's cheaper because everything is stolen from Germany and resold... |
