And here it ends, the highest profile case in the history of DR since many decades has been finally ended.
The main country's prosecutor and several other instances took the biggest thieving senator to court to request trial, all proofs shown, every little detail shown, and after months of waiting we finally hear the veredict.... "No trial, all his money is legit"
He had a salary of 80,000, in 4 years he went from declaring 500,000 as his fortune, to over 100 million in SOME of his assets alone.
Innocent. Wow. Im tired of this shit. 6 more months in college then im off in my quest to gtfo.

Well here the same set of politician rule the scene for over 20 years. They were active back in the old country (Yugoslavia), and now are in 2 major parties that have changed the power since the independence of Croatia.
And they are all 'big patriots'  Meanwhile ex prime minister is in jail for major fraud. They destroyed the industry completely, the same people are in power, and the government jobs are filled by people who are incompetent and got the job because they know somebody in one of two parties (and those are the people who vote, other idiots are staying at home saying: nothing will change).
Croatia is like one of 3 EU countries that still hasn't shown signs of getting out of recession.
Our choice of parties are: Corrupt (HDZ), incompetent (SDP), ultra right nationalistic christian (HDSSB and likes), green (ORAH) and this new 'party' called 'Living wall' that is run by a 24 year old 3rd year student of engineering who has no knowledge how running a state works, and that got his points in public by blocking the evictions from people in debt, a populist that spews some class a bullshit that people eat up.
So yeah, all the countries in the world seem to have the same problems (politicians?)...

Oh right. People are fucking lazy.
At least here, people do rant, but rarely go to protests, and votes are won with exactly 12 dollars and a fried chicken meal, IM NOT KIDDING. Senatorships have been won with giving 12 bucks and a fried chicken meal, then people give their ID for the "mafia guys" to enforce the vote.
Same with presidency.

Politicians are simply acting the way their ancient predecessors did - they believe that citizens only exist to pay taxes. Then they make sure people are outraged at others when they use things like welfare and health services by calling them scroungers, ensuring people will be mortified at how their 'taxes are being spent', and that 'the taxpayer is paying for your social care'.
This is prevalent in the western world, and it is all a smokescreen to ensure that only those with money and power are allowed to actually dictate government policies.
Democracy is like a rectum. You swallow promises and only thick shit comes out.
