so, seeing that the castle is in the same area as other places I, obviously, thought that it was time to go there coz there was a local boss. Smile Btw.. the world map seems really small...

I have really mixed feeling about the game.

Mainly, combat is clunky, and not consistent. Since I always play every game on hardest difficulty, I have no problem trying an encounter many times, yet since I rolled a controller cipher, the game was really uneven in the beginning. Encounters ended very fast, either me overpowering them, or them overpowering me, and it ends in seconds. Some fights you have to micro every frame, other fights autoattack takes care.

And whilst I appreciate having to switch your loadouts often to match the incoming damage type, it gets really tiresome after a while.

And the interface is godawful. Godawful bad. So bad, it should be burned to the ground.

-----

Like it, or not, this is a budget game. I bought it, I support Obsidian, they make unpolished diamonds, but this is garage-level effort even by their standards.

My final opinion on the game will rest on the lore, characters and story.

Finally! I killed him with my 3 men group. I placed a fireball trap in the throne room and then ran away(my tank was the last one so he took some initial hits and saved my weak mage and cipher from death) to fight them in a corridor. Mage was casting slicken (OP!) and some other spells, wariror was on steroids and tanking, cipher was charming the king and dealing damage.

I agree it feels budgety, especially compared to Original Sin. I think I just hate Unity, I had the same feeling while playing Wasteland. I assume developing for it is easy and/or cost effective, because technically I can;t find anything good.

As much as I liked Wasteland, it looked like shit and the combat was pure crap. I think nothing will beat the combat in D:OS for a while Sad

Is there a way to lock the camera so that when you're moving around, the camera follows the group instead of manually scrolling the screen with the mouse? There is an option to turn edge-scrolling off, but it's kind of useless if you can't lock the camera. Also, camera movement is done with arrow keys, not WASD which is kind of weird. I had no problems with controls in Wasteland 2 or Divinity: Original Sin, but this feels really bad.

In these games, the absolute worst thing is leveling. You're absolutely taken aback when you see all the choices you have and that single fucking point available!

You can change keys under controls in the menu.

So far, the only part of the interface I have a problem with is selling/buying in stores. It's really clunky and needlessly complicated. Otherwise, the game actually feels pretty polished to me - much more than WL2 did, for example.

I'm loving the shit out of the game so far.

It's fun so far. Still, feels little budget at times. Don't like the default controls. Not a big fan of the combat - I prefer turn based much more than the RTwP. I like the style and the art and the feel of the older RPGs. But I'm glad I didn't pay $45 for it though. I'll wait until the price drops down to backer levels and I'll buy it then.

@Meseder

Imagine a polished POE on DOS engine.. Me Gusta DOS had so many settings and useful options and it's interface was so good...

PS I'm watching old POE videos and oh boy.. they did downgrade the game a lot graphics\animation wise I guess it ran like shit lol

Why is this game having so high system reqs? The graphics look only a little better than the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition but it has the reqs same as Dragon Age Inquisition. This doesn't make sense to me Scratch Head

Unity is godawful shit engine, I stay away from all games made in Unity, and truly hope Unity dies a fast but very painful death. But this is an exception, because Obsidian, but right now, I'm not sure I'll be finishing the game at all. Depends on how much I can take the shit they call an interface in this game.

I'm all for tactical games, I love them. I love DnD, played NWN and 2 to death.

But games evolve, and there is NO reason for a game in 2015 to be so pointlessly clunky, and have interfaces like this game has, which only increases your time spent in game on useless shit.

Aside from the inventory and store windows, I don't really have any problem with the UI. Graphics wise I think the 2d art is amazing, character models I could take or leave.

Someone on RPGCodex is making an IE UI mod to restore the BG1 and 2 UI, maybe that'll improve things.

Yeah flaws aside, I'm having a lot of fun with this. Closest thing to BG3 we'll get in the immediate future.

Jesus, some of you guys are what we call in Dutch "azijnpissers" ... you'd think it was the worst game in history reading some of these comments ...

Personally, I'll dip my toes into the water and play a little to get a feel but hold off playing until they've patched and balanced the game a bit more.

They should have stuck to D&D...
It feels more like Titan Quest than BG, and I must say I'm disappointed. The game is there but I prefer playing Hotline Miami.

Nothing is clear and manageable, the UI is the fucking worse, and unity gives a cheap feel to everything.

Feels like some 3rd party cheap dungeon crawler. *Sigh* I'll guess I'll be over fucking 40 by the time some true BGII successor comes up.

Saying the inventory and shop system is retarded does not mean the game is shit. It just means the inventory and shop screen is shit. I for one can't believe this UI got out of beta.

This game has so many flaws that it is more painful than it is enjoyable yet every fanboy will still will run around in circles yelling that this is the best game in last decade... , if this wasnt old school rpg people wouldnt even iso demo this

Horrible interface, random difficulty levels, getting obliterated by random pack of boars in middle of the map is fun, controls that are as bad as interface combined with pathfinding and zero AI in companions make combat biggest mess ever

I don't really get the hate outside of the UI. The writing/story seems everything expected from Obsidian so far, the 2d art is nice and the combat system generally seems fine.

The one controversial issue I know of is the engagement system, Anthony Davis is currently arguing it with a few people on RPG Codex, and it seems to be a pretty divisive issue. People are fairly 50/50 over whether the engagement system works.
