Title says all. Wanted to have a MKV to iPad Air 2 MP4 (720p or 1080p) converter, and,if possible,to keep the incrustated Subtitles from the MKV to the final product

Also,if possible,to use Nvidia's CUDA stuff to accelerate shit up.

If not able to keep the subs it's ok i guess

Thanks in advance

VLC seemed to make files to not work as for late,so the user reviews says on the app store.

The thing is,i can't directly put stuff in the iPad's HDD not even on iTunes (Bastards)..

Also,the iPad's not mine,it's my dad's,and it's brand new..Don't wanna hack it at all ^^;...

What should i do?

VLC should work. It works on my IPAD i just tested it.
its a free app and it works.

Regardless of any app you use to convert you'll either have to do it 264 format for apple video player to work it. Or use an app like VLC (there aren't many good ones on there, they're all paid and most suck dick in UI dept) And jailbreaking it won't cause any issues but it may be up to date so that could be out of the question.

Handbrake is a good encoder - we used it at the office
square5 also
if you're on mac use compressor
vdub also is ok
Episode by telestream is good
quicktime on mac (and maybe windows) has an option to save as for a different codec/format/ and it has drop downs for specific apple devices
if you're on mac, youd need perian for codecs
if you're on windows you can also use VLC to convert

handbrake is free
mpeg streamclip - square5 is also free
episode is not free but it we used it heavily in a mac based office
compressor is mac only and comes with FCP and FCPx

Don't know what the fuck Nvidia's CUDA...

but yeah best bet is handbreak and look up tuts and settings for best quality + size
you'll still need itunes + add to video + sync all video and then play through native iOS video player which sucks

Best video player on iOS by far is Infuse, now with practically all formats supported.

i've used handbrake and converted AVI to MP4 with a couple of movies using the default iPad settings at the right.. Gotta try MKV to MP4 one day and see if they keep the subs or something..

It's funny how many players says "Plays MKV" but you can't put the fucking file in the iPad itself!!!, not even via windows explorer!, you have to CONVERT IT!! ><

i don't think mp4 container can hold subs
trying to google it, all i get is instructions on re-encoding the video with subs on it

i'm a bit late to the discussion, but my tool of choice:
http://winff.org/
convert to .mp4
then use mkvtoolnix to add subs and mux to .mkv
