desktop, not browser based.
i use rssowl for daily news, but when i tried to add something like :

http://web.site/rss.php?cat=24,11,15,18,16,25,20,2,3,4,19,1,10,9,17,22,8,21,23,13,14,12,7&passkey=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx it just breaks. (invalid or malformed feed)
it work in a browser, but i dont want it in browser.

does it have to be local?
unfortunatley i don't have a "correct answer" for you
i prefer a web based solution that is synced to my desktop, phone and laptop on the same account
i've been using inoreader now for about a year and it's pretty damn decent
much more functional than feedly which i previously used, or greader before that
the only annoyance is that it's 5 weeks
if there was a feature equivalent solution i could have on my own server, that would be great

@shole
That reader seems to be pretty great for being free! Thanks man.

Was using the Firefox addon Digest and also tried Brief (or how it's called), but sadly no Firefox RSS reader seems to work with v35 anymore

well, i found that desktop readers usually have more options vs browser app/extension. i tried feebly, had some thing i need, some dont. tried 4-5 like feebly, same deal. on desktop version usually i have all the option i need, is a simple matter of visual pleasing. will have a look at inoreader, i dont remember testing it.

ah, and the most important thing : desktop programs dont have shit limits like pay 10$ to be able to read 10 more feeds, or other dumb monetization "features"
