http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/182202-fda-approves-the-deka-arm-the-first-commercial-mind-controlled-prosthetic-arm
The whole "mind-controlled" bit is sensationalism, but there's no denying the level of sophistication and tech that this Deka Arm has. The 12m video is damned impressive too! As far as I'm concerned, the whole "this isn't cheap and can run up to $50,000" bit should be a total non-issue --- any vets that served in a campaign for their country, who lost a limb in combat, should be given these by the government. For life. They've certainly earned that and more.

You can't even buy the original release any more, which for some people IS the better version of the two, so that's a useful release to have.

Wasn't the DC supposed to improve boss fights, as well as other technical aspects? What was better in the original?

I believe the primary change that people dislike was that DC removed the gold filter that the original had over everything.
Gameplay wise they did improve the boss fights, they also made energy regen slightly easier as I think you recovered two bars by default.

So let me get this right Everyone keeps crying how piss is "part of his vision", but when they remove the piss filter, everyone cry that there is no piss in their eyes?

I think there were also some graphical glitches introduced, but the removal of the gold haze is what most people seemed to be complaining about on other forums. I always hated that gold haze, though I guess I can understand some people liking it.

Gameplay is better, technical aspects are so-so or even worse.
The piss filter is gone but it's not as well done as in the DLC for example. It feels like something is missing. But ok, that's subjective.
What's not subjective is that this DC is based on the original unpatched version of the game and as such it reintroduces several bugs.
For example the dots you get in DX11 tesselation with nvidia cards.
Or the moire effects on billboards.
Or that if you press eg W and A or W and D together you move faster.
Bugs that were fixed in the original game.
Or for example the fact post processing is broken.
What post processing does in the OG: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/46250/
What it does (or doesn't do!) in the DC: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/46252/
Or for example do you remember the last patch of the original which introduced much much better SSAO? Here you get the old ass low resolution one.
Technically this version is one step forward and two steps backwards. This is because it was outsourced to some unknown third party and Nixxes didn't work on it.

Interinactive wrote: | I thought the boss fights were fixed for stealth players? I tried shooting Barret with every piece of non lethal ammo that I had, and it was a lot, but he still didn't go down.
Fixed = use 2 turrets to kill him? How the fuck is that stealthy? Especially when he spots you at the start of the fight?
Considering that he actually dies in the cinematic, and not in the fight, I don't see why they kept it like this.
At the very least they should have made it the same as DE1. Like with Gunther's/Anna's killswitch. It would require hardly any effort and you could still integrate it with the cinematic after you defeat him.
Lazy. |
Thought so too, would've cared for the DC edition if they were really fixed for stealth, but that's just a lame excuse of it.

nonlethal takedown was possible for barrett already in non-dc version, but it required a shitload of shooting
bullet sponge combat design is bullshit
