Game defaulted to German language but that's easy to fix since it stores everything in the registry and it's named exactly the same as with Two Worlds 2 (English text though.)

Uses a updated Grace engine build but it's still DirectX 10 for whatever reason so it's a bit dated visually. (It doesn't look much better than Two Worlds 2 did so ~2011 or somewhere around there.)

Same console commands too for hiding the HUD and all that. Very Happy

EDIT:

(ThisIsGreatGame and/or RavensCryCheats is to enable the debug commands, curiously enough the default value is already 1 meaning it's enabled.)

EDIT:

Helmsman (1 minute into the game while sailing.)

Be brave, curs!

Helmsman (2 minutes into the game.)

Be brave, sons of bitches!

Helmsman (3 minutes into the game.)

Be brave, motherfuckers!

I can see that crew morale might be a bit problematic with that guy shouting insults once a minute or so. Very Happy

EDIT: (That guy, again)

Be brave, shitheads!

Everything on with 4x MSAA at 16 samples (what the hell is that?) plus the highest in-game settings with 16x AF and framerate is around 40 so far but the engine does take quite a hit from using MSAA since it's DirectX 10.0 instead of 10.1 which would have helped with that. (Disabling MSAA should greatly increase the framerate.)

EDIT: Not seen any real bugs so far but as was probably to be expected the English VO's don't quite match the lip synching and the characters sound pretty bad but it's serviceable.

Combat also feels pretty "empty" or how to say with you mostly flailing your sword around without the AI npc's reacting much at all.

Fun game so far,but it is as you would expect...a little buggy and clumsy.

Some VO's are missing,no subtitles appeared in cutscenes(at first..they did appear on some later cutscenes) and few crashes while loading a new area.
Nothing major though. Smile

Ship battle was fun, changing the horizontal angle of cannons without any indication where they are pointing was a bit funny at first. But it was pretty functional...reminded me a bit of Black flag.
The actualy on foot combat is just what you would expect if you have played risen. Wink

Graphics are ok and it has that dark moody atmosphere.
Voice acting is another story, main guy is kinda ok,but the rest... Very Happy

One thing is odd though...game supports 5760x1200 resolution, but the HUD is stretched and so are the dialogue boxes. When trying to use windowed mode,it won't let me choose 1920x1200, only 1680x1050. Laughing

But will definitely play this through, too bad I'm busy tomorrow, but after that it's on. Smile

thx prokeaan - so smartest think to do is wait a bit to iron out the launch problems (and as i said above free sail mode)

Re-validated the game files and Steam downloaded an additional 3.3 GB, guess I'm going to call it a night and see what has happened tomorrow although as it's a weekend I don't expect much to change until Monday at the earliest.

One thing that does seem pretty clear is that Topware or Reality Pump (or both) are having some financial problems.

There's three difficulty levels although I have not gotten very far into the game yet though at least on normal it's been pretty easy so far besides when I accidentally smacked a guy in the tavern with a sword and some 20+ dudes joined in with a massive brawl. Very Happy
(Most enemies go down in a few swings but some in that tavern were a bit tougher so the game might get more difficult later on.)

You can change difficulty mid-game as well. Smile

EDIT: Re-validated the game again and it found another 2 GB of data to download. Razz

i would say Topware as the game had pretty messed up development . It was developed by completely different studio , but with them it was stuck in development hell and iirc even cancelled at some point. After long time of silence they announced in q4 2013 that they completely changed developer and assigned Reality Pump and from the look of it they didnt have enough time with it to properly finish it

That seems like it could be the case and I guess Reality Pump delaying the game twice finally ran out of time and had to release the game now.
(Thus the big stream of updated builds seen via SteamDB, they tried to make it as playable as possible before release and said release still got badly botched.)

Seems very similar to how it ended up with Jowood and Piranha Bytes for the release of Gothic 3 actually, hopefully this does end in a better way than what happened back then but they won't be able to patch everything.
(Higher quality voice acting would probably be impossible and any larger overhauls that could be needed would probably be too time consuming and costly too.)

EDIT: One of the two post-release updates added subtitles and a option to toggle them. Smile

EDIT: Started a new game, patch seems to have improved things somewhat. Smile

Oh and yes of course.

Yup, that's what I will do. Razz Not going through another alphabeta-ish game, I'll be patient this time around. Thanks for the feedback Proekaan and JB, sounds like it could be fun, after all the weird stuff has been ironed out and the voices fully implemented^^

Heh yeah and that's just the "Be brave..." lines, there's a lot more insults for well I guess nearly every action that the ship can do. Very Happy

Also while following the main plotline I heard animal noises in the whorehouse in Bridgetown and found a goat under the left stairwell, it even has stockings and a little collar. Laughing

(Also there's a girl upstairs that you can "use" for 200 reales and it'll show a little god-of-war like scene with the night table next to the bed being bumped around eventually toppling a candle that was standing on it.)

EDIT: And yeah I know it's a re-used model from Two Worlds 2 (New Ashos) but why does the gunsmith have katanas displayed in his shop. Razz
(Ancient Japanese swords here?)
