Letterman was like your english prof, funny once in a while, knew how to hold an audience but ultimately trying to keep the younger crowd interested but never really managing.
Furgeson did it right, the SNL (falon) kid did it right, the SNL news guy (seth) didn't do it right (tho i watched the firsts - maybe he now managed to get a rythm going), the man show host (kimmel) did it right as well. They took their jobs seriously, but they know what is funny, what people will laugh at ... their staff is good.
I used to watch the Daily Show every day and I liked Stewart because he bashed on Fox News and Bush a lot. But to be honest, the whole Gamergate thing has made me realize both sides are rotten to the bone by spreading lies and trying to subvert the truth by using fake studies, fake "stats", etc. One side hates on immigrants and non-white people, the other hates on (white) men. Both sides are sexist and racist assholes, it's just only one side that is globally considered to be sexist and racist which shows how serious the problem is.
Fallon and Kimmel suck ass. Boring as a motherfucker, not really funny and I really can't understand how either is still going.

Fallon is a kiss-ass durr, like Leno. Kimmel I like more and more, but I dislike his support for the retarded "viral" internet culture. Conan gets on my nerves more often than not these days.
I wouldn't be able to watch any of them on a daily basis. The format gets old, and that's true for all these shows, like Daily Show, Colberr Reporr, etc.
