I realized how much time I spent online with friends vs actual out with people.
Today in the gas station while I was getting cigs and soda some guy inline was talking to another dude about his new 250DX Tig welder...
I didn't hear the conversation, it was just background noise..but when I heard the "DX" I turned around and looked at him like he was calling me, and he looked back confused. Everyone I know online or in teamspeak I talk to has always called me DX, since we have a LOT of mikes on there for some reason, and don't want to confuse each other.
It was that random background noise of 'chatterchatterchatter'DX'chatterchatter' when you hear your name out of no where.
When you start responding to your online nickname in public as a knee jerk reaction, you know you need to get out of the house more often

What do you mean, 90% of my friends irl call me with my online nickname. Why you picked it if you don't wanna being called like that?

I dont mind it. But got to remember I'm 40, most my irl friends knew me before online nicks was a thing..so its not something we call each other unless we are on voice or talking with text somehow and then its natural.

Your friends call you by Warrior Max? That seems like it would be quite embarrassing.

No, that's not my online nickname that I use in the games. I am warriormax just here because everything else was already taken. But some of them happen to call me Max in some occasions since they know I am big Mad Max fan and I use this inspiration for many things that I do.
Btw warrior Max comes from the intro of MM2 when the narrator says "And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max. The warrior Max."

my name "Spykez" (spikes) has been my nickname since freshman year of highschool (year 9). I pretty much ignored my normal name being called out because there were so many of that common name in HS. It got to the point where, and still to this day people only know my by my nickname, some friends been around so long they sometimes forget what my real name is lol.

For me it's kinda normal to hear my nick, my family and childhood friends have been calling me by my nickname since birth/young age tof/tofke and well the people that knew me from SOF and WoW called me Morph, they said I responded faster to that instead of when they would say Kristof (kinda funny when one of those was my boss, and my coworkers didn't get why he called me that).
I'm not good with people, so I don't go out much either... but I'm happy like that. So I'd say do whatever you feel comfortable/happy with. If you feel like you need to go more out do so, but don't do it because you respond on your nick so easily.
I rather have more qualitative visits with friends and family, then seeing them every day/week.
Here in Sweden everyone butchers my name into Kristoffer tho, absolutely hate that. It's not even close ffs
