No, those commands are all there is.
Caching 8K MTs leads to both better quality textures and less popping.
Playing with vt_maxppf (=> lowering it if your CPU can't handle the stress) can help as well.

Don't shoot me but... I tried searching through like 40 pages and couldn't find it.
What was the console command to disable the green/purple shitty tint? Someone mentioned it before might have been JB or consolitis dno.
Help!

yeah but i understand why it was canned. id woefully mishandled rage... glimpses of brilliance desperately trying to shine through muddy design decisions from a developer thats... kinda lost the plot i think... pity, because i really enjoyed rage

i dont think the MT should have been used for EVERYTHING... seems really wasteful. it should have been used for a lot of the environment, and then just add simple models and individually texture them in the world... its like they had this cool new tech but didnt know how to use it properly.

Well the whole "beauty" of the engine in its creator's head was that now, compared to the earlier implementation in ET:QW, everything was a megatexture. (That and 60 fps on all platforms). And the plans for idtech 6 were to take that to the next level, where even geometry can be virtual - entirely unique with "infinite" detail, which is not going to happen for several reasons: from Carmack not being there to hardware not being good enough, Bethesda being very strict on what id works on: "Just make Doom, nothing more", and so on. Primarily the fact these were Carmack's plans back in 2008 - 3 years before the idtech 5-powered Rage shipped(!).., and no one can see this far into the future. HL2: EP2 was less than a year old then and people were still on Windows XP because "Vista suxxx", to put things in perspective. Yes, it's been ages since then.
idtech 5 is the case of Carmack wanting to make his idea a reality, no matter the downsides.

I'm downloading Rage now on Steam and by right clicking the folder I see it says it's ~23GB.
Scrap the multiplayer, who no one plays anyway, and it's ~16.5GB.
16.5GB might have been considered big in 2011 but nowadays it's actually small.
Now imagine releasing the game as a 50GB game which is not unheard of today (Wolfenstein's ISO is ~43GB).
50 / 16.5 = ~3x, so we could be looking at a rougly 3x higher bitrate for Rage's megatextures which would make them look much better, decent enough for a PS4/XB1/PC HD remaster. Make a better ending level while you are at it as well - it's not like id didn't make its interns create some additional throwaway levels for Doom 3: BFG.
But Bethesda has no faith in the game so it won't happen.

The problem with them creepy MegaT is that even Wolfenstein suffered from seriously low resolution textures, despite the considerably bigger size and the different target hardware. The engine is really faulty to its core when it comes to rendering up-close details and dynamic environments in general.
It's good indeed for some static oil-painting-like vistas as well as the shooting part (which is important) so in the end it's an acceptable compromise, but still, I think it's pretty safe to say that it's simply a wrong approach and the project failed, not miserably, but close enough.

Even if he understood MT Framework, I'm stil unsure how Dark Souls's engine fits. 30fps locked DS1 was fluid???
