(The actual hardware is also very expensive.)
The other thing is that so many games get rushed out and can require upwards of dozens of patches although with 3DM and Ali213 along with Cs.rin there's now some nice progress with providing updates to warez releases.
(And also the DLC content and other bonus stuff.)
Not really sure about piracy hurting sales or the business that much, most people who pirate likely would not have bought the game to begin with and some might even buy the game after trying out a "demo" version since actual game demos are getting a bit rare, at least on PC.
Will be interesting to see how gaming changes over the next couple of years, seems a lot of focus is on mobile and the "freemium" business as I think it's called, moving gaming online and requiring a internet connection for certain features is also starting to see some use. (The PS4 and XBO replacing the previous console generation is also good although do we get better games or just better looking games as a result?) |
Yeah isodemos works great since there's barely any pc demos
Steam sure made it a lot easier for the PC crowd, but also made it harder for piracy in terms of updates and security breaches
But steam is also DRM in some way, forcing internet connection is becoming a standard as you can see in most modern games.
H4wkeye wrote: | nforules wrote: | You know by the time some of you spend looking for a crack/download you could have easily earned money to buy the actual game.
Yes isodemos are great for testing out the actual game (usually no demo on pc) but seriously.... if you can't afford a PC game and you're an adult something is wrong...
Yes I also download sometimes (demo purposes)
Yes I buy cheap russian versions sometimes
But quality games deserves quality money. |
So it's that easy to earn money where you live huh? You just go out of the house and pick it from the trees, rob a few people on the street etc I suppose? How do you suppose someone earns 40$ if he/she has no job? You can't just force yourself into someone's home and be like "Hey I'll fix your ceiling light for 3$" |
Let's assume everyone in this thread are adults, shall we? If you can afford Internet and whine for a crack day after day you sure as hell can earn 40 USD in some way or another.
Nobody is forcing you to play every god damn ever released. My kid can save up money to buy a game what's stopping an ADULT? You can afford a game even if you don't have a job, i'm of course assuming you're living in a country where there's tap water and Internet.

No but they can whine in this thread for days for a crack instead.
Just to clarify I also pirate games/movies sometimes, but this constant whining for a crack is ridiculous.

You're comparing organ market vs a video game, i've got nothing.....

spent the day playing this on ps4 and my god is it horse shit, it some how managed to be even worse than dark souls 2.
they tried to balance the difficulty around lack of punishment, everything can move quick except you and your weapon swings are so slow that even when you dodge perfectly etc the boss with the 500 ft fuck you in the ass weapon can recover quicker than a 1h r1.
it's extremely dodgy, I think this game is abysmal and one of the worst games i've had the experience to sit through.

i also thought the bosses were low quality similar to DeS filler bosses (dirty colossus etc) as to where in DaS they had a lot more effort put into them. |
That horrible floaty, twitchy movement was the first thing I noticed about DS2. In DS1 it felt much more slower and heavier, so you could really feel the weight of the character. Why they decided to fuck with perfect DS1 controls, I have no idea, but it pretty much made the game unplayable for me - I just couldn't get used to it. I was actually surprised that most players didn't even notice it.
The other fail was the detail in environments. For example, in the beginning the clouds in the sky were moving, but only in Majula - everywhere else it seemed like they replaced it with an ugly looking JPEG. It just looked so fucking cheap and lazy. I bet Miyazaki stopped supervising DS2 right after Majula and that's when the shitty B-team took over and fucked it all up with lame boss fights, boring locations and mediocre, downgraded graphics.

they put his name as supervisor purely for the sake of having a big name attached to the project btw that floaty feeling you talk about is back in this game, so enjoy.

by all means make up your own mind when you play it but i wouldn't go into this game expecting a quality game because it simply is not that. |
I already completed the game, didn't expect a dark souls exact clone, so wasn't disappointed nor impressed.
I think your judgment on dark souls is a bit clouded though, due to being a big fan.
there's a lot of cheap and artificial difficulty in dark souls games, its just that after you play the game a lot, you don't tend to notice it.
but yeah, I agree, this game is not as good as that series, especially since they rushed the release, and lots of combat mechanics weren't properly developed/tested.

I don't know what it is, but something is always off in European RPG's. Bound By Flame was the last example - looked good on paper and preview pictures until you started playing it. Especially how characters talk to each other, they're always awkwardly animated and voice-acted, lost in a pointless, boring story. The combat is usually stiff and badly designed, too. It kind of works, but there's no polish to it. No humanity, warmth or soul. Simply cold, in your face bullshit.
Gothic 4, Risen games, now this... Just awful.

and that crappy stalker, just a copy of great western fps's like cod, and mafia, just a janky euro trash gta wannabe.
Dem euros will never learn how to make games that resemble proper western classics.
I'll take euro games over soul less western blockbusters any day, but that's just me
