It's different enough, has a sc-ifi theme, looks and runs better on my system (was surprised by it).

I wouldn't pay a lot for it tho, think it would have been cooler as an expansion on Civ5 where you'd end up at the space age and settle on another world. So I'd be more comfortable around the 15€ price.

That being said: demo it, it's definitely worth that if you like Civ. Smile

I think it's a good game on its own (definitely not at full price though, like Morphi said), but if you're already "satiated" after hours and hours of Civ5, the sense of deja-vu might get bigger and bigger. It's the most typical example of more of the same, though there is new stuff too.

The tech web feels fun to explore and forces you to make choices (you can't actually have everything, even though it changes little), aliens kinda replace them barbarians, but they aren't always aggressive (plus there's affinity system which determines how you interact with the planet and its resources), there are many quests this time around, and binary answers/choices that will have future consequences etc.

Most of the remaining features here are just renamed/similar features from Civ5 so..it depends on you really. Personally I'll wait for the goty version from the Gaben Sales 2016, 75% off.

So far I'm not impressed. It is too familiar to Civ 5 in terms of mechanics. The high tech setting only really impacted the flavour, but nothing substantial. For a setting about humans leaving Earth to colonize an unknown world, I didn't get the feeling of trying to survive an alien environment. Aliens are just bandits, miasma is the only thing that threatens you as a force of nature. And it certainly didn't help that they just rename stuff like cutlure to virtue, or gold to energy, happiness to health. These things doesn't mean shit when they operate the same even though they are entirely different things in real life.

All I got out of this game is that it is a very clever re-packaging.

As was mentioned 1000 times before launch, it just looked like a mod. And unfortuantely that is the case. I'm kinda tired of civ 5 so there is barely any reason to ever play this game. Predictable though yet so disappointing.

What were you people expecting?
I mean honestly, research before you buy anything.

We all knew, this was basically a reskin of CIV5 and yet people are suddenly surprised...

Yes.

That's the new DLC content. The 'MEDIEVAL Cooperative', with leader 'ERA'.

...and?

Nice mod, the Civ vibe is present, but it lacks depth and replay value. Would advise it to someone who has never played Civ, and want a taste.

After about 400 turns im done with the ''game''. Sadly it's nothing but a Civ 5 mod, with not enough new things to keep me interested in it. Actually there are many little things that annoy me, like heck, noone would even bother changing the the city attack rockets from Civ 5 to something more futuristic.. -.-

All the different factions (sponsors) feel the same -with only one minor bonus and nothing else unique about them.
What a huge disappointment..

Just finished a game. Me and 2 AI were close to victory then on next turn someone won... I say someone because I couldn't even hover over who won, just quit to main menu. No endgame statistics as well. Pretty bland and disappointing.

On a surface game looks and plays like Civ 5 but underneath differs quite a lot. BE is much more focused on building and micromanaging specialists and tiles improvements. Tech Web with bonuses to this and that puts game in math puzzle category closer to the Endless Space / Endless Legend games.

I noticed it, also like the way research is done. One thing I always do is just like with Civ5, I modified the marathon game settings so that research takes a LOT longer and production is as short as standard game. Makes things interesting Smile
