Well the PS4 version is finally out so hopefully the long promised (and as of last month confirmed as still coming) performance optimized DX11/x64 version will follow "soon".
Hopefully they also include some of the redone/optimized effects for the PS4 version, at least as an option.

While it does look a bit worse compared to the PC version with reflections on, it also does look a bit better compared to the PC version with reflections off - which is how most people have played the game.
As someone who considers the graphics in this game ugly, I say bring it on, performance is all I care about.

Yes, the updated engine is x64 AND dx11.

It already runs pretty good with everything maxed out. So, performance is gonna be even better? Cool.

They probably intend to use the enhanced engine for their next game and this is a good way to test the changes publicly. I like it, it's a win/win for them and the gamers.
I wish Rockstar did the same with GTA4.

I think it's just that the consoles forced them to improve their engine and they are bros enough to backport it. Why? Because they are cool PC dudes.
You can see this even in their console versions: they have FoV(!) and motion blur settings.. 99.999% of console games don't have such settings and 99.999% of console gamers won't ask for such settings. This definitely shows they come from a PC background.
I know that they have added PBR in their newer version of the engine but I doubt they are going to update the game's materials.

EDIT: ok its not - it downloads 6.9gigs but needs to have 13gig discspace..

Seems like its not really live yet. It asjed for 13gb dyring download but downloaded 7 gb. I guess its almost here
