Fuck. I am pretty scared. Finally... finally they invited me for a recruitment talk over a vacancy I've been applying to for 2 years now. It is a process engineer job. Very good and well paid job. I am now a logistics guy in the company and the process engineer is like 3 levels up from me.
It is a company that produces plastic cards with modules in them. Like gsm cards, pay cards and id's. So it's all about machines, production and cards personalization + security
I know it doesn't sound like much but it's a big production company, so they require all the knowledge about yield and productivity tools etc.

Any ideas how to prepare ? I've never been on such a talk before. And I guess it will be all in english as my new boss is foreign guy

Show them your avatar, so the interview is more relaxed

Very Happy

Joking aside, i have no real advertise for you, as i till today i only had interviews for jobs probably everyone would have gotten Laughing

It's easy to say for others, but try to get relaxed somehow before it.
Read about all the latest news about your company, if there are any.
Maybe start the conversation with a short joke and that your english is not very good to soften it up a bit

Scout. Prepare. Be yourself. Don't sell yourself short. No job too big no job too small. If you don't get it it's not the end of the world. Calm your nerves before. Have a shot. Always helps me. It doesn't really help it's just a superstition. Be the person they want. Dress for they job. Be honest. Don't be greedy. Greed comes later.

Practice and shit so you wont pause while talking to think about what you're gonna say, and to seem more confident and relaxed.

Dont say that your English is not good, thats a bad idea even as a joke, Bob Barnsen's "Advertise" is bad. Laughing

Depends on the company, but if you were coming in for a chat in our company, rehearsing your answers is the last thing to do. That makes you come off as a machine that needs the job, rather than a person who wants the job. We've turned down people who on paper were bloody geniuses, but in reality had no passion for what they were doing at all. It was about being the best and making more money for them.

My advice? Be yourself. Show that you want the job, show that you're eager to learn, to put in the effort to get + keep the job.

Take a look at your companies values and what your company is all about. Prepare, prepare, prepare. Put positive spins on anything negative that might come up in the interview. If you are asked a question that is difficult to answer, say that you would like to take a moment to think about it and give yourself 5 seconds or so. At the end of the interview, ask if you have fully answered all their questions and if there is anything else they would like to know. Be enthusiastic. First impressions are extremely important.

Also don't forget to ask when you start Troll Face

This. It's really important to know some stuff about the company you are trying to work with.

Also think about a few intelligent questions you might have for them if ever they ask you if you have questions. Its always important to show interest, but first you need to know what the company is all about before you think of questions you want to ask.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Read up on the most common asked questions and think about an answer, don't memorize it, just prepare. There are certain stupid questions like "Where do you see yourself in 5/10 years?" so just prepare for those, the others, questions you don't expect, just think of an answer instead of talking out of your ass. Don't worry that much if you're nervous, this interview is just an obstacle you must overcome, just have faith in yourself and think positively.

And if I find myself with a question/task, which I just don't know how do resolve/answer... how to behave to minimalize losses ? I can't just say "I don't know" right ? Laughing
