Oh I have no illusions on it being anything but dull. But the curiosity in me needs to know how dull!
Is it twice as dull, ten times duller...

Sometimes I hate my curiosity tho... those 15 mins of Duck Dynasty really felt like stabbing a rusty spoon in my eye.

Actually it's not that boring imo Laughing It seems to get better as it goes on, some of the locations are great, like the dark forest and the Colosseum. So far it feels like the first area of the game was the worst. Haven't got tired of the combat yet, either.

Worth a playthrough, I'd say.

Game is definitely worth a playthrough, it isnt that long so you wont have to invest week into it.
Visuals are beautiful and locations are stunning and unique. Storytelling is good and story in itself should compel you to see the ending, which 99% of current games fail to achieve. Sure combat is somewhat repetitive and fov isnt all that great, but since fov adjust with camera position you wont have an issue with it tbh.
For all the bashing game received it really isnt bad, if you spent full prince on 5-8 hour campaign, then you might have a reason to complain, but otherwise its quality game.
First level is weakest part of the game so if you get past first half hour or so, game should pull you in.

I'm about done with chapter VI, just experienced the infamous 'York crash' so I'm done for today.

My pros and cons so far are:

Pros:

-Beautiful visuals

-Gory finishing moves

-Solid voice acting

-Alright storytelling

Cons:

-Simple combat mechanics

-Tedious fights

Yeah, there are more pros than cons, which is great, if I were watching a movie. But it's not a movie, it's a game, a dull, dull game.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

The solo gladiator mode is actually ok, and summarizes how this game should be played: in short spurts. The rounds have objectives (which mostly come down to "kill this wave of enemies") but are pretty short so it doesn't get repetitive as long as you're not playing several rounds in a row. You get to buy new armor pieces and weapons with the money you earn.

Oh dear. This is (by far) the worst game I've played this year. I knew if was bad, but like this..I can't even. Cevat really surpassed himself with this one, it's his ultimate opus of masderpieceness Facepalm Laughing

As usual, the only positive thing are the visuals. Good models, lighting and..that's pretty much about it really. All those beautiful environments...with a "follow-based" level design that is simply nonexistent.
It's either 2 meters wide corridors or small arenas, going on for hours.

But that's not even the worst aspect of the game, because there's always the awful need to make everything look cinematic and visceral, which means QTEs for pretty much everything (including the repetitive, easy, tedious, rinse and repeaty combat) and hand-holding even when Marius needs to have a piss.

At some point I had to use Cheat Engine to skip combat to proceed and see the cutscenes, because it was a torture (and also because two hours were already more than enough for this piece of cr..ytek).

The story is basically Gladiator with a huge dose of Michael Bay, supernatural bullshits and dialogues perfectly suitable to Xbone's audience. It's not a surprise though that even those people avoided the game, it was probably too much even for them. One of the very few examples that qualify as worse than *insert random linear military shooter* as far as I'm concerned, Cevat deserves a special badge for this. But I'm sure he still thinks he's a misunderstood genius D:

I rate it one Derpius Maximvus out of 10.

After playing two chapter and half of the third, gotta agree with Ixi. this is an insult to me as a gamer.

Even the graphics are nothing spectacular after Alien.

I even had to disable steam overlay because "achievement" popups took half the screen almost every minute.

The game pops an achievement for each 1/100 thing you do, and often i got 3-4 achievements at once, stacking up to cover the screen.

The story is the usual teenager targetted, action film, hollywood drivel. "Inspiring" speeches about bravery, spilling blood, and reminiscing how you respect someone because you slaughtered people together in some past battle.

They kill my rich family, so I must slaughter millions. even the legionares say Hua, like marines, so we know who the game is targetted at Laughing

I will have to play this in really short spurts to be able to finish it.

And to think I wanted a relaxing, derpy game after finishing Styx.

This to me is more tasteless than a game like hatred. I honestly can't find a single good thing to say about the game, even though i have the legit version.

Are there more games like this on consoles?
I mean this makes Gears of war feel like an RPG.

Surprised that it didn't take you much longer to finish

Seeing how you somehow manage to get many more hours out of a game Very Happy

I rushed because it was horrible. + theres not a single side path in the whole game.

Yep, maxed graphics. no supersampling.

My mini rant on the game, yes I hated it that much that i need to let some steam out:

Quote:
Probably the worst game i've played in years. there's 4 types of enemies that all have 1 or 2 attacks, 1/5 of the game is a stationary balista shooting range, with exploding red barrels everywhere. the speed of the balista is comical, its almost a machine gun. No way to disable auto aim.

Boss fights require no skill, almost all of them simply require that you press the Y button at the right moment, and then 2 times X. You don't even have to move. I am not exaggerating. That's how I finished last two boss fights.

You could reskin the romans into U.S marines, and no one would notice. They even say Hua. There's a level like the normandy landing as well.

Story is a mix of constant braveheart wannabe speaches about bravery in death and slaughter, reminiscing about previous slaughter with your old friends, and the occasional noticing how the slaughter and the roman empire might be bad, only to be followed by more bloodshed seconds later.

Pretty much what Gladiator or Braveheart would be if Uwe Boll directed it.

I actually feel a bit offended that this is called a game. I play almost everything out there, and have quite a stomach when it comes to games, but if there are more games like this one out there, I don't even want to know.

It would break my heart. And I am only half joking when I say that.

I honestly find it a waste of engine and development time. an anti-gaming title, if you will.

Apologies if that sounds too negative, as I do respect that some people enjoy this.
