Usenet got too popular too fast and with everyone everywhere talking about their favorite hosts it was only a matter of time since they store the files directly and is easier to take down. I don't even use it anymore and had to got back to a private torrent tracker.

signed up for tweaknews a couple (or two?) weeks ago after going a few months without (since 1996 or so) ... and happy to have it back.

Sure doesn't work for everything but usenet + public trackers are better than just public trackers.

Private trackers are the way to go if you're into torrents. Ratio sucks but at least it's private and fast. One I'm on maxes out my connection every time. 8MB/s

Said recently goodbye to newsgroups myself and there is no way i'm going back, everything complete, max speed and way faster releases. Nice anti piracy they got going because since i am forced to go on torrents with my seedbox i shared like 1TB data

So it just made me a bigger pirate i guess
  Empty again

still use newsgroups for everything I need, and it's great. rarely can I not get something. rarely does SAB and CouchPotato not let me watch my TV show the morning after it airs in the US.

I pay for Sky too here in the UK, but probably shouldnt bother lol.

Oh sorry, must have missed your post. dognzb.cr and nzbs.org, both have open registration for like ... 1 day a year or something like that. Was very lucky when I got in.

I do feel it's expensive now as I mainly only download pc games and tv shows/movies. Can't bring myself to resort to the t word! Only on occasions If I can't find what I want on usnet.

Giganews? I use them, and they suck. Anything above 600 days I feel it just can't complete... Used to be able to dld 1200+ old releases, now 500 is already risky. I doubt they are all flagged.

Use supernews, its giganews but cheaper (it not only shares their backbone, it is ran by thrm)

PS I use a combination of 3, one main (also does my site), one backup, and one block.

All different backends and with sickbeard (although I recently switched to sickrage), couchpotato I don't miss anything, on backfilling I don't often hsve trouble.
