I'm using the average :

-Anti-Virus
-Firewall
-Anti-Spyware

Like evryone else I guess, but then I also use :

-Proxy for the internet, only high-annonymous proxy, changing proxy every 10 seconds.
-BNC for the IRC, with SSL 256bit enable on both side: me-->SSL-->BNC-->SSL-->IRC
-All my HDD are heavily encrypted
-Every cookie, History is erased multiple times each time I'm closing web browser
-OS start-up is password protected, displaying "disk error 0" black screen, starting only if correct password is typed
-OS is password protected
-I'm only using MSN with contacts using msn encryption 256bits
-I'm only using encrypted e-mails

So I guess I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to computer, what about you? How paranoid are you.

And no I have nothing to hide, I just like to have my own privacy, it seems to be more & more difficult on the internet those days, with spam, virus, trojan, backdoors, spyware...

I'm amazed your pc even starts with all that crap on it. Do you have steel shutters at the windows and sentry boxes at your gate just for good measure?

How do you change proxy every 10 second?
A app that does the job for you?
I bet you use condoms on your internet cable too!

I just installed PC Cillin 2005 Internet Security Pack (Firewall and Anti-Virus).
That's all I got.

I hate you.

Just NOD32 and a router. What more you want? Any virus/trojan sophisticated enough to get through that will get noticed quickly. That and I'm just some guy on the net, hardly a target Razz.

Same here. Even after years of moderate leeching, the 'authorities' still haven't kicked down my door.

If you are using fireforx, there is a great extension called SwitchProxy Tool thal lets you switch proxies very quickly. Nice tool.

But the the guy is a bit too paranoid imo, especially for a person that has nothing to hide. I personally use a router, software firewall, anitvirus, spyware removal tools, and I password protect all personall files.

it would be handy to have a program to makes it appear you have no disk inserted at startup (like with fatal crsh etc..) and after typing pass it starts up.

That doesn't really make a lot of sense. Why don't you just outright turn them off, use a whitelist or even set them to session-only?

[EviL] wrote:

What do you mean by "password protected"? A protection that actually works on the filesystem level (and not just the BIOS) or an easily bypassed password under Windows?

Edit:
DriveCrypt can be cracked or keygenned, right? What does that say about the security of the program?

[EviL] wrote:

Paranoid people use Jabber on a privately server and audit and compile everything themselves. Both the MSN client and its server are closed sourced and completely out of your control, so any security is merely an illusion.

I haven't had an infection in over 2 years. I've crashed the machine before and used a disk image to return it to a few months prior. Ownage.

i have a firewall which is off most of the time cause it annoys me during css. but i have to have one to play quake 4 so he cant connect to the internet (i dont touch hardware for such stupid things)

if i have a virus i will install antivirus scan remove deinstall, if it is a persistant virus, like mycoolwebsearch etc..i will do what i have done once already. go into the registry in safe mode and manually look at every single file, look up if its a strange name etc. kept me bussy for 2 hours
