Yes, but if you want i5-3570K, you'll also need motherboard with Z77 chipset! H77 doesn't allow overclocking, therefore all the extra money would go for nothing! Sadly Z77 mainboards are also more expensive than H77.

So it's either 3470 + H77, or 3570K + Z77.

Don't mix K CPU with H77!!!

Just keep this pinned somewhere Wink

If you want to enjoy, there seriously is no way around a new 1070 at least. The hardware performs much better than the 9xx series, even more so in VR.

Regarding other components, post what you currently have. Don't want to check all other posts what you decided to buy back then. Cool Face

sorry mate, its gonna get expensive (think the i5 can only boost up to 3,6ghz on one core for example and oc isnt possible. but should be fine for another few months) step by step

sure your ssd isnt the fastest, but thats no problem (cause its even to small to install any games on it). if you want more space buy a new one, if you are fine with only your os sitting on that thing and a few programs -> its fine. a few games profit from a ssd (faster loading times), but not many.

get rid of the ancient 7950 and wait till 3rd party 1070 cards will be available. not reasonable at all now to buy a 970 for example. even if you have to wait a bit longer for the 1070 (till custom cards are out and you maybe get a bit more money together). should do the trick for now, but you should have in mind that you most likely have to change mainboard, cpu and ram within the end of the year too

No and you'll do yourself a favour with waiting just a little bit longer.

While you're most likely very eager to use that VR, it would be silly to compromise just for that.
Though at the same time I'm thinking: if you are that strapped for cash, sell the Rift or Vive and put priorities elsewhere.

You really should wait, 1080 and 1070 offer a massive performance improvement in VR, and details about Polaris cards from AMD should be revealed very soon as well.

1070 with custom design will be maybe 20-30 bucks more than a 390x. and that is worth it. not a good idea to buy old generations now

Because price drop you dunce. Razz
Over here a 2nd hand 970 is 170/200€ already and its early days. 1070 isn't out yet so that will set the prices.

You've corretly decided to wait with your gpu purchase. Nvidia may drop prices of their own cards if AMD's cards can compete with Nvidia cards.

If you'll be going after the new Nvidia cards: avoid founder's editions as they're overpriced and can't reach the cards' overclocking potentials due to only having one power connector. Try getting a card with two power connectors from a custom board partner (that is, if you plan to overclock, some reviews show the cards have a lot of potential). Akso, much better cooling on the partner boards, not to mention the $100 lower asking price.

No you dont.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

980tis are already in the 460€ range in Germany.

Maybe wait for prices to drop even more. Or wait for the 480 to come out. That should lower prices of 390s even further.

As I said in my previous post "Maybe wait for prices to drop even more." Smile

They'll have to since the 1070 is pretty much equal to a 980ti in terms of performance AND has 2gb of ram more.
