I've finished the game in a tiny bit more than 5 hours due to being lost and with shame having to go to youtube to check for help (specially....

 Spoiler:

So my review would be:

THE GOOD:

- FEELS: THE GAME (Like someone said before in this topic)
-Now,seriously, this game made me cry a few tears in the middle of the game due to the surprising or ,mostly, shocking moments, making you lose a bit of hope for some moments with the mouth opened and even shaking/sobbing...But the most crying was in the Ending (ofcourse, ain't gonna spoil it)

-The designs, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!! (Art fanatic from Rayman's 2D sagas, including Origins)
-Walt (The Dog)
-Even though there's many few cutscenes without the "side scrolling camera",they were all done with the game's engine (No FMVs nor videos),wich has variation and stuff from the scrolling action

-The Story,if i'm not wrong, is based on REAL EVENTS from letters from the Ubisoft crew or whoever from military. This is no "Fictional History in the actual 2000 times or more" a la COD, but like MEDAL OF HONOR's Normandy story (see "Save Private Ryan")

-Even though my play was 100% in spanish (Except the character's voices that varies due to their origins), both the spanish and english dubs are simply SUPERB. Perfect. Fitting....And unlike Child Of Light, this one doesn't has poetry AT ALL. It's straight talk.

-
 Spoiler:

-50/50 with the price.

THE BAD

-Some puzzles might confuse some people (See spoiler above for reason, but take the risk, though no story spoilers are told, just a game mechanic) and rarely you'll get stucked in one place.

-Short game...in 4-5 hours you rape it out

-Sometimes the controls, even with a gamepad (like me),are confusing. Walt getting in your way may not let you interact with some things sometimes. And the

 Spoiler:

might make you throw the controller (lightly) away.

-Bugs, like Walt disappearing out of nowhere and even if you look around or call him it won't make him come out , you have to start the section again to make him appear.

-Tiny Part of the ending. No spoilers again.

-Being a super HD like quality game, whenever characters gets too close to the viewer you can notice pixelations in the drawings. Not really a con but...

-No PHYSICAL Release like Child Of Light.

VEREDICT:

You don't need a 3D AAA action game nor similar to make a masterpiece...VALIANT HEARTS demonstrates that simple looking yet fuckingly detailed comic style'd places and characters, with a great narrator and ,above of all, FEELINGS,makes this a game you must not let it go

9.5/10

What's so surprising about that? People get emotionally invested in all kinds of media - you don't question someone crying about a powerful movie, so why should a game - which is far more interactive, thus promoting a stronger bond between the player and the characters/narrative - be any different?

To The Moon still rips me part every time I play it Crying or Very sad

@DV2

Great review, thanks, I'm really looking forward to playing this Very Happy

I'm 28 and I've cried with movies, games and even music.

Games i've shed some tears:

-VALIANT HEARTS
-Dust: An Elysian Tail
-Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden
-Sonic Generations (Nostalgia)
-THE WALKING DEAD S1 and S2's Episode 1 (One of it's surviving moments)
And some more

Movies and Series:

- WALL-E, Bolt (Disney)
-Wolf's Children (Anime movie, from the creators of SUMMER WARS)
-COWBOY BEBOP (Anime series)
And more

@sabin1981

Have a video (While doing my 1st play i also recorded my walkthrough, with some tiny cuts to prevent boredom. But all the scenes and stuff are there...But in spanish, but you won't need to understand it at all...Everything's explained with speech bubbles)

Though i'm going to keep my SC/Full Unlocked ,working version,i've tried installing the RELOADED version and i am having the same problem i had with KILLER IS DEAD, wich is:

1.Install the game,crack it
2.Launch it
3.After a few secs the screens turns black (120hz to 60hz),but then it comes back into 120hz ,returning you to the desktop BUT the game's still running in the background (You can even hear the Main Menu's music playing). If i click on the task at the taskbar it repeats step 3 again.

In KILLER IS DEAD all i had to do is to edit a .txt file for the resolutions and stuff..however, VH DOESN'T has any kind of files like that

The KID problem can be found here so you get an idea

Hell yes.

Brothers a tale of 2 sons done that to me, and probably many more, but it means I enjoyed it like the dev meant it to be.

Nothing to be ashamed of at all.

Something to add to the experience: The developers say that all the characters hide their eyes because they are ashamed to participate in the war. Sad

Also why doesn't surround sound work in the game?

I'm into chapter 3 now and this game is fantastic, so far this is my favourite game of the year together with Child of Light. Watch dogs was a major disappointment but Ubisoft is really delivering with their Ubiart framework!

Finished it in 5 hours, enjoyed almost every minute of it(one particular digging segment made me rage Laughing ), and unlike other games released in the last few years, it made me feel something other than rage or disappointment.

It's nice to see Ubisoft aren't completely creatively bankrupt.

If only some of that creativity found its way to their AAA games. Laughing

One other thing, while I was playing it, I couldn't stop thinking how amazing a game like this would be in full 3D with Oculus Rift support.

Your brain would fucking explode. Laughing

Finally played and completed the game, what can I say..that was So Much Win (and Crying or Very sad at the same time)
I've never seen such a perfect blending of visuals, music and narration, the attention to details was simply incredible. The gameplay wasn't bad either, simplistic and 'casual' but pretty clever (especially the environmental mini-puzzles).

One of the best games of the year, without a doubt. Ubisoft's AAA games of late are all quite boring for me, but the Ubiart ones (both the Raymen, Child of Light, this one) always give me a lot of fun, because they're creative and somewhat unique (unlike the others).
So..Ubi, less AssDogs and more of these, pl0x Okay
