do it during invasions too often and you get banned though. |
What? VAC banned? That's retarded. Where did you get that info?

Not VAC banned, but banned from online play in DS2.

But it applies to that one character only, right? If so, then that's reasonable, I guess.

This thread is not about how GOOD Dark Souls 2 is, but about the status of the industry and about the desperate need to have/play something different than the streamlined/casualised bullshit we are used to nowadays. Thank consoles, thank triple A companies, thank the masses etc.
IMO, ofc.
This game is not a 9/10 game. That's pretty clear. Still it gets these ratings almost everywhere. And I think it's pathetic how the media has such a massive influence on these masses. Good thing there are exceptions, hehe...

its a great game no doubt, difficult to say how it is compared to dks1, some things are better and some are worse.
time will tell, and ng+, ng++ etc. playthroughs will have to be taken into consideration too, since this time you actually get completely new loot and new mobs on ng+ and not just a harder challenge.

Imo, it's just a good game, still a half-lazy port, questionable level design (some levels are simply ugly and uninspired, some are nice), it lacks the "soul" of a memorable game (opposed to Dark Souls 1) and it's clearly a more streamlined experience.
For me, a non-console fan (just neutral, no hate ), a non-gamepad fan (*chirps* ...), Dark Souls, though a techincal mess, was/is one of the best games I've ever played. It is just... memorable, mysterious, it's like a piece of art.
This game... called DS2, is just another passing-by product for the masses.

You might want to rephrase that, unless your whole statement becomes ignorable fanboism manifestation.

True, some of the level designs in DS2 also give me a lazy vibe, not to mentioning some of the bosses re-used from previous games. Still in my opinion this is a worthy sequel. Everything you mentioned was similar when people went from demons souls to dark souls, just saying
Durante should have been mentioned in dark souls dlc or ds 2 credits, because he really made a DIFFERENCE for the pc crowd

It's a figuere of speech. Not everything is perfect. But it serves a great sequel, the majority of the game is improved. Yes I am a fanboy. Imported demons souls from japan to play it early.

Yeah, there is not much evolving going on here..it's just more of the same with little nuances. It's still a great game, but they could do a lot better with animations in combat, for example. These rotating on one spot characters looks so stupid...

Good to know, mate. Enjoy your game!
I am on the other side of the "barricade". Really sick of being in such an awesome tech era, and having to put up with shit that looks and more importantly FEELS like the 90's.
True; creating sequels to masterpieces is... IMO, impossibru! Look at Deus Ex, Thief, BioShock... Heck, I reinstalled Witcher 1, just to quench my RPG thirst and, wow, I just realized that in many aspects, it's better than it's sequel. Was thinking the contrary until recently.

happened to me as well on 1st playthrough, joined the damn covenant and struggled through first 3 bosses thinking, shit, dks1 is so easy compared to this.
later somebody told me about it and the game was significantly easier after that.

Maybe it wasn't as clear as I thought then, I could have sworn one of the messages was about how you will face greater challenge or something like that so that you know what you are getting into if you join, now I'll have to start the game and see what it said again.
EDIT: Perhaps that was for the covenant ring description or their item? Not the actual "dialogue" part.
(The stuff you offer.)

One is a fight with a relatively predictable enemy in which you can block/dodge his hits and still have a nice window to hit him back.
The other is a fight in which you have up to three guys stacking up in the same place (otherwise how can you follow their moves?), so even if go in when the one you have targeted is open wide you will still get hit because behind him there are one or two attacking you, and their attacks just pass through the first. Also the battle will take much more time.
I'll return when I have a better damage output/defense/everything

Get that dwarven shield from that pharrao place. Think that's where i got it. Has 100% physical resistance and also 100% fire resistance. Should be the best shield for that fight.
