Exactly what the title of the thread says. They can suck my nuts....let me tell u my horror story.
Sitting down, watching tv tonite, chillin. All of a sudden, my dvr cable box stops working. So i figure manually reset it and it should be good cause it happens sometimes. Still doesnt work. Wait 15 minutes. Plug it in again and it boots thens says CRSHFlr....to me it looked like crashfailure...So I phone up Rogers, get some non-english speaking person (barely spoke understandable english) and they basically told me my box fucked up while trying to preform a software upgrade through the network and I have to go to a Rogers Digital Service (in Rogers Video) outlet and simply exchange it (this happened at 7pm btw). So I ask where's the closest one open - all are closed at 6 Fuckin Pm and I have to wait till tomorrow.
Ok, fine by me, I have my own (like fully bought) rogers digital box (not dvr-dig). So I ask the guy to activate my regular digital terminal after i had hooked up. Guy says its working and it should load within 5 minutes...30 minutes later, I call back and get some next barely understandable english speaking person. This guy tells me the other guy didnt activate my box on the "network", he only sent signals to see if my box was legal (verified serial number and shit) . So this guy activates the box on the "network" (these guys have no fuckin clue what they are doin btw, i know more about rogers tech help than they do - ive had nuff probs over the years) and tells me wait anywhere from 5-15 minutes and everything should be good. So I wait. This time, it loads, but without all the digital cable features like premium chans and shit, only basic cable...so I phone back for a fuckin 3rd time. While Im waiting on the line for a tech, I see all these wacked numbers cycling on the front of the box in the lcd part. The tech guy comes on the line and i tell him whats going on and he says that because I haven't had that specific terminal hooked up for a while, it has to preform a software upgrade thats gunna take 24 hours...so, long story short, IM FUCKED. Like fuck, im injured, off work, cant really go walking about cuz of my injury and now i have NO TV!!!
This type of shit pisses me off for so many reasons I don't even want to get into it - im sure u can assume the reasons why im pissed. But, to add insult to injury, they fuckin patronize u and talk to you like ur a fuckin idoit - the automated guide system thing...I swear, this may sound dumb, but it was pissing me off SO FUCKIN MUCH, i ended up breakin one of my house phones (cheap one still, $20). Here's an example. Remember, its ALL automated till u actually speak to a tech.

I still fell like beating the shit outta the person who did the recording for the voice...i swear i better never EVER meet him...and I had to go through all that shit 3 FUCKIN TIMES!! each time it took like atleast 10 mins before i got to a real person.
Shit like that makes ppl go 'postal'...I swear
FUCK ROGERS!!!
EDIT - My reg digital terminal IS STILL FUCKIN UPDATING...!!! Im gunna snap!!! This shit should have been done - im paying for like 300 channels and i get what? 60 or 70? whatever basic cable is....

I like tripled checked that shit too. I phoned Rogers Cable customer support and all the stores in my area, 10-6...

Thats what i do regularly...play some games WHILE watching whatever it is im watching.
No point in switching really, most companies seem to be totally stupid in terms of general tech support. If u have a big tech problem tho, for the internet anyway, the rogers senior techs are pretty handy guys - actual computer guys not some idiot reading shit outta a book. For serious tech problems for cable, i call my buddy
I better not have any problems as they have a newer model out and I had one of the originals - which had tons of bugs ie audio clipping when u have it hooked into digital audio via surround sound, during bad weather the image would sometimes get pixelated etc
Supposedly, that shit is all fixed...if ANYTHING happens, Im gunna fuckin beat someone at rogers down with the box.

We're fucked no matter what useless fucking jerkoff company you choose for tv, internet, cell phone, etc.
Why? Because they couldn't give two shits about the customers because they have too many to care.
I've been in the process of trying to get a cell phone from rogers for like 2 1/2 months now. It's absolutely ridiculous ... I've been dealing with their e-service department ... which is full of fucking retarded idiots. Here is a part of an email I wrote them detailing my problem.
First off, I don't like any of the cell phones at Bell or Telus or Fido (plus they are all useless as well) so the only reason I've been putting up with this shit for so long is I think I'm going to get something free outta the deal

09/16/05:
You reply that I am getting exactly what I had originally ordered 1 1/2 months previously, and
nothing about getting the current promotion. I make it VERY clear in my resonse that I expected to get the new promotion, plus a deal on a rate plan since this ordeal goes beyond terrible customer service.
09/20/05 - 09/28/05:
In these 9 days I sent you 5 (YES FIVE!) emails asking what was going on. You ignored me completely.
09/28/05:
I called Rogers' Customer service. The rep told me he would have to fill out a complaint form, after which he told me HIS SUPERVISOR would call me and try to rectify this situation.
09/29/05
You email me again (not the supervisor, as I was told) and say the same thing all over again "We are sorry to hear of the delay in shipping your order. We take this matter very seriously and have initiated an urgent review. The matter is currently under investigation."
It's now October 4th. You have tried my patience for too long. I have dealt with 5 different customer service reps (Anthony L, Jennifer M, Denise L, Mike L, phone rep) YET NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON.

That's the end of the email I sent to them, but since then I have send another 4-5 emails and talked to another customer service rep about a supervisor calling me back since they never seem to be in. She lied of course and nobody called me back.
Why oh why do we have to put up with these clowns?

I use bell for satellite
And never had a tech-problem they couldn't solve
My isp is a small dsl company - look.ca
Whenever I've got a problem they're always there to help me out.
Overall only tech-support that sucked came from Rogers.

and Telus isnt too bad for cell phones - thats my provider, they havent fucked me over in anyway yet - a couple of billing errors but they easily solved them, only had to call CS once.
And its fuckin killin me not having my dvr setup and shit...Im used to putting whatever it is im watching in pause while I go take a piss....and see, my computer and surround sound system and tv and shit are all in my basement, so I have to walk upstairs to go get food, piss, etc and I have a broken and a cracked knee. my one leg is in a cast and I have to use crutches and shit so it takes me a good 5-10 mins to go upstairs and get back down again....missed so many shows, well parts of shows since this shit happened yesterday....fuck!!!
Oh well, gettin a new one in a couple of hours, when my bud gets off work

Yeah, unlimited bandwidth...but still, that doesnt solve my tv issue u know?
Like i said above, i usually use my computer while watching tv - I have my shows that record while i sleep and watch them while i run some videogames during the day/nite or whatever ya know?
Im still pissed!! And I just know something else is gunna happen when I get to the store...

Your intention and my way....everything except my cell is with rogers, I spend atleast $200 a month on their products - not including pay per view shit they get money off of.
All they need to do is stop fuckin outsourcing the general tech and customer service shit to India, pakistan, jamaica etc and hire some local ppl who have ACTUAL, HANDS ON experience rather than some idiot looking through a book...
When u call their cable service tech help, all the reg ppl are trained to do is activate ur box, send a few test signals and unlock packages that u buy - and from what i hear, its all done through a nice lil GUI simple program, its not like they even have to use special commands and have a lil bit of special knowledge - they fuckin point and click
One of my friend's dad works for rogers, not tech help but on the corporate side. Thats who told me about their system of operating - fuckin ridiculous...
And whatever happened to the good old simple automated messages?
Such as
"Welcome to Rogers Cable. Please select one of the following options. etc etc"
Not all this voice command shit that DOESNT WORK AT ALL...and fuck, I speak clearly and I do not have an accent AT ALL. I speak like a normal, english speaking Canadian/American (same shit in terms of language in the northern states).

I like many NTL users have experienced slow speeds with easynews since the free ntl upgrades. Their forum and newsgroup has many postings about this.
Easynews provide a trace that shows every computer between me and them and the packet loss of each. NTLs have approx 10% loss (not good)

Next time that shit happens or u want some kinda specific tech info, phone their tech line and first ask for a senior tech. The idiot will still ask u to describe the problem as he thinks he can help, but u wont have to go through to much shit. Thats what I do.
Just say something like "I use Linux kernal x.x.x.x.x ..." or something like that and they will usually cut u off it uve already asked for a senior and refer u - cuz they have no clue what ur talking about and prolly arent being paid enough to learn ya know?
Worst case is u get a call back in a few hours/next day.
Its sad that in this day and age, most of those who actually call for tech help are more knowledgable than the entry level techs

Yeah I know. Most of the first or second call tech guys (like the ones that come out to ur house) dont know shit - except maybe splitting ur line, which any idiot with a 5 dollar splitter and a screw driver (if u even need a screwdriver) can do ya know?
I had the same shit happen when highspeed internet came out.
I order it and shit. My buddy already had it so I knew they had to like install a new line (for optimal usage) and shit like that, from the outside of my house.
Anyway, some crackhead dude shows up, hooks up my internet cable line to my fuckin TV, and says this is some new way of connecting it. So whatever, I didnt know much about it then so he leaves and I use the computer. The speed was considerably faster compared to my 56K, but wasnt near the speed i thought i should be gettin.
So the next day I called back, they sent another tech guy out same day who, instead of hooking it up to the tv, split my cable line from the control box in my basement. That made sense to me. Anyway, same shit with the speed. So I phoned back and talked to a senior out call rogers tech and he couldnt believe they hooked it up like that and its all wrong and shit.
Long story short, i had 2 "senior" techs and a reg tech come out to install an internet cable line....and all they did was hook it up outside and feed it into the house...I could have done it myself ya know?
Oh, I have a question? roger's provides free cabling right? I need another cable wire cuz the current one is fucked up hard and i have to macguyver it into place for clear reception...I better not have to pay for it cuz the guy said because its a direct line, not on a splitter, they replace the wire and do all the maintenance for free. But the thing is, I dont wanna wait a fuckin week for someone to come out and do something that would take me like maybe 15 mins...

Exactly, thats what im doing tonite. Gunna go get a new dvr and some cable wire, and get my buddy to hook up the wire...I cant cuz of my knee's and shit, I gotta remove some ceiling panels to get to the wire and stuff, cant really balance on a chair, considering my injuryies
Still, it takes no more than 15 mins, and thats stretchin it

HOLY FUCK!!!!
Man, I swear I hate them even more.
I go get my new box and everything, its some brand new, newest edition DVR (newest on the market) and all this shit
So I take it home, hook it in 2 seconds. U have to phone rogers u activate it....anyway, I spend 2 FUCKIN HOURS trying to get through to someone...and I dont mean I was waiting on hold, I mean i called, went through the fuckin annoying ass automated msg system and then it would say "Connecting u to a technical support representitive" and 2 seconds later, hang up on me....
anyway, I get through, and it takes 3 DIFFERENT operators to activate my fuckin box, which took like half an hour because my model isnt on the network yet as it's brand, brand new, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Then they activate it, but all the channels are wacked out and shit, like much music was on chan 301, thats a TMN channel.
So I had to phone back, and wait for him senior tech help, he sent a "special" signal to my box and it took another 15 minutes to get it running.
Thank god its over with, i fuckin hate rogers so much :X
But still, this box is sleek and way better than my old one. The old one seemed to run outta memory (its basically a cpu, it has a hd and mem and usb ports and shit) if u were looking for something in a hurry, or if u did just other, random shit and the audio would clip most of the time when u changed the channel and it would take like a good 10 seconds for the audio to load up - now, its smooth and 100GB HD, which using their compression format, is like 60-90 hours of tv that is able to be record and I think it has a port for a flash drive or something like that, gunna check into it.
And the picture quality is a good level better for some reason. Crystal CLEAR image...ahh....now I can play some quake and watch a good movie...I love my tv
