My old trusty T220 died. Screen didn't want to start. Then I tried plugging it in with vga cable to laptop, and screen started going gray, and from grey to white. OSD controls don't work :\
My dad said I should go to service to see if that can be fixed, but I'd rather buy a new one.
Problem is I have no money, and my parents are stingy, and I really doubt they'll borrow me money.
I cannot check my mail. Nothing. Oh, and I have a web design to do, since I could get money from that, but now I cannot do that as well...
And I don't have a spare monitor like some other people...

Well maybe it's really some stupid problem, e.g. a capacitor in the power supply died, it happens often and most probably it can be easily fixed in the service.

Power supply? I have just a simple cabel connected to the monitor, no converter. All that's in the monitor I guess.
Plus, the monitor is, iirc, 5 years old. And I do need a new quality monitor.
But money is the issue xD

and you are also impressed with the ghosting and bleeding and matte cover ? there are tons of better monitors out there.

But nevertheless I recommend repairing and then selling the old monitor, most probably it's some banal problem and you can get nice cash for it... |
Yeap, I plan to do that. First I need to see how much it would cost (I'm not gonna pay €100 only to be able to resell it at €75).

First of all, compared to my old T220 bleeding is really not that big. For ghosting I've seen it a bit when I was doing my codeacademy stuff today, but it went away like a minute or so after noticing it, so not a big deal.
And I would never get a glossy screen. Never.
Better monitors for this price? I looked a bit, and couldn't find one, not with these specs and at this price. Plus compared to old monitor, this one is golden.

I have mail (not gmail) that is tied to my outlook, and the only way to look it is by opening an account on some mail program, which I seriously don't want to.
The laptop is my dads and all my files are on my computer
