Well, I suppose there are not alot of non-3D TVs to be had nowadays...
Nevertheless, a friend of mine recentley bought a Panasonic Plasma TV, and the quality is glorious.
Enjoy your 3D though!
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

This is a recurring thing People buy 3d tv's and watch 3d movies a few times, and forget about it. 3D was interesting imo, but it's not good enough yet I M O.

Honestly? It would be now or never. Opportunity came and I took it. I probably would not upgrade my TV for next 2-3 yyears, then I would just buy 55' 4K
But yea. I will only probably watch Pacific Rim and maybe Avatar and transformers 3. And maybe play some games? Does PS3 support all games? or there are only specific ones I can play in 3D?

I bought a high-end PC for 1500eur.
My parents bought a "smart" TV for 2000eur...

Pinball Arcade on PS3 now supports stereoscopic 3D...and it's fucking glorious. Also, Zen Pinball supports it on the PS4, and quite possibly on the PS3.
And Gran Turismo 5 in 3d, while fun, looks shit thanks to the lower res rendering (since PS3 just isn't powerful enough to do full HD 3D).
But, when you hook a decent PC up to it? G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S. There are a few ways to fool a lot of the 3D games into allowing 3D to be enabled.

Woman Zombie: COMPLAAAAAAAIIIIIIINNNNNSSSSS
Englishmen Zombie: REFRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNNSSSSS
Thanks for the idea Lutz!

You will probably laugh at the size but whatever.
Samsung UN40FH6030. It was pretty cheap, only $490.
I know it might be too small but I sit pretty close to my TV from the couch and 40 inch is just about perfect size from that distance.
I guess one could argue that Active 3D might be a downside.

It is a downside and $490 for a 40 inch seems a bit... much?

Regular 40inch is about $400-$430. So, $60 extra for 3D. I don't think it's that bad.

Cheapest LG 42' with 3D is about $650. That is out of my league for now.

Hehe, I have a sammy 3dtv as well
UN55D8000 from about 2 years ago, looks like the price hadn't changed much since I purchased it.

It's fucking terrible for console gaming BTW, the input lag is the worst I've ever had. You can change to gamemode for lesser lag but the colors wont look as good :/

I'm not sure if that TV is fully "smart". I think it has some features of "smart" tv. Info is so scarce on it.
I thought Vizio is dropping 3D entirely with their 2014 lineup? But yea, my next TV will be Vizio as well.

Congrats
I don't even own a TV, but my folks have one of these not-so-smart thingies made in Sammy, with 3D incorporated and it ain't too bad. Nothing mind-blowing either though..feels almost like a gimmick to be honest xD
