Okay, now that my STO session is at an end, I want to get into this one. I like the way these guys have set up their games (though I got bored of STO sadly).

What's the most fun class to go solo? I'm not looking for the absolute best tank or something, I want pure fun since I'll play veeerry casually.

How do I download all areas at once? The launcher is already downloading 5GB.
nvm I disabled on-demand patching and it's downloading another 5GB.

edit: this game is pretty damn impressive. I enjoyed STO, but this one is leaps and bound ahead of that one. It seems easy atm with the hunter, but I assume it's because I just started. Leveling is very fast though, I'm already at level 5 after an hour.
Very deep game with a shitload of options. Very impressive. I have two questions. How do I disable the shiny quest trail and how do I disable "blabla has gotten yadiyada" that pops up occasionally?

Any must have/upgrade skills for the HR? I just got my first skill point.

I too would like to know the best solo class, I am fed up with my lvl 38 crab walking ranger.

Also, if i were to make another character can I trade anything between them? Including items I have gained with a profession with one char, gold, diamonds etc?

If items aren't bound, sure, you can transport them to another character. I really don't know what to tell you as far as "best solo" goes, besides what I already wrote a couple of pages back. Ranger is definitely one of the most varied classes in the game. You can try a rogue too, they're pretty powerfull, especially when it comes to destroying a single target. But each of them has their own drawbacks too (rogue isn't great at fighting groups, for example).

@Mister_s - to disable quest tracking press "z" - or at least I think it was. The other thing, sadly, I haven't found a solution to - it irritated me to no end too.

There are some character build guides on the official forums for HR, people are saying they can take on three people at once in PvP. Seemed damn impressive to me. I won't be using the guides, but you can look for them if you think you're weak.

Thanks Aquma.

I have just tried a Great weapon fighter to lvl 6, so far I have spent all my cash on health potions, either I doing something completely wrong (very likely) or they are extremely hard to solo, no ranged is a pain in the bum Sad

Rangers are powerful and capable of doing almost everything they need - by themselves. They can kill single targets, they can destroy groups (probably THE best aoe damage potential in the game), they can kite and are incredibly mobile, but if rightly built can also take some punishment, they can heal themselves and have a stealth-like power as a daily (costing only 50% of the bar too). They even have some limited hard CC, not to mention infuriating roots.

I have a lvl 60 ranger on a hybrid melee-archery spec and he feels very powerful both in PvE and PvP. I wouldn't say he's top of the food chain (GWF's and Rogues occupy that spot) but he's certainly not a sissy either.

Also, forgot to mention: for must-have skills definitely consider maxing marauder's rush/escape and split-shot. Aspect of the pack can be pretty good too. Most skill choices need to be tailored to the build you're aiming for, but you'll quickly get a hang on what's usefull and what's not.

*edit* you're not doing anything wrong. Until lvl 16 GWF's are definitely a bit hard to play. Then you get a cleric companion and it turns around Smile

Is it right to assume I should not try soloing a quest when it tells me to bring a party?

The only thing you can't finish solo are the daily dungeons imo. Smile
Tho there are some party that can be extremely hard solo depending on your char. You can still try them and if you can't finish them and can't find someone else to help you, tell me. I will gladly help you Razz

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I'll go in Rambo style first.

This game has more options and it's deeper than most modern RPGs.

tbh these options and deepness are decepteve. The game is actually pretty small and easy when you get used to it. Like the firts time I was in Protector's Enclave I thought it's an enormous city and ill never learn it. It turned out it's really small, tho still has everything you need.

What are things like tribal feather, orc teeth and religious tome used for? Where do I get marks of potency?

Tribal Feathers and such are treasure items. They are useless and only for selling. Just discard them if you need space. You will get enough gold anyway.

Marks of potency you can buy from the Wondrous Bazaar or Auction Broker. You can acess both anywhere with the Control Panel slots in the top part of your screen , no need to go to the NPC's. Press ALT and click the 4th panel from left to right for Wondrous Bazaar or 4th panel from right to left for Auction Broker and "What gear do you recommend?" then "Find similar". My advice is to always look in the Auction first when you want to buy something. Most things are much cheaper there. Like the Lesser Mark of Potency is 99 pieces for 15k Astral Diamonds in the AH but in the Bazaar it's 500 AD for only 1 piece.

I don't find that funny. I find it sad actually. I find it sad because someone's not making a game like that already, a game in which you play a dragon and the whole game is built around the fact that you play a dragon. To this day, Drakan still remains pretty much the only one that went anywhere near that idea, with Divinity 2 trying a bit as well, but being far from what Drakan did so many years ago.

In one older mmorpg game called Horizons you can play a dragon, become elder after some time, not a bad game. Not sure if this game is still running though.

It is still running, it's called Istaria now however. Great game with the old school feeling and awesome crafting.

So my Neverwinter account just got "hacked". Every unbound equipment item and enchantment shard is stolen, my AD is gone. Sent a ticket to the customer support and hopefully they respond soon. Has anyone been in such situation?
