I've installed the SR version assiduously installed the mob of dlc's updates & cracks and after much pissfarting around version 1.2 of bongsmoke's tool verified the install - just for offline use, but I'm buggered if I can get the game to run. It crashes on start every time.
The only thing I haven't done is use brucie's dlc unlocker chiefly because I have been strangely unsuccessful in locating it.
Found an assassin creed dlc unlocker purported to be constructed by brucie is that the one?
I've been reluctant to test it since this mucking around took a lot more time & effort than I thought it would & I'm reluctant to screw it up and have to start over.
UNder normal circs I would run Borderlands.2.Crackfix.Only.V2-DMN32 once again but am hesitant for similar reasons as the assassins code.

Yep I installed the redist at game installation & just did it again to be sure.
The game ran at least up until those last 3 headhunter packs and dlcs followed by the verify. Which is why I was wondering about the dlc unlock

I discovered that was pretty much my problem, I was using win 7 x64 & I'm sure its a file attributes thing.
I can't count the number of times I reset all files & folders off read only,
'attrib -r +s drive:\<path>\<foldername>'
but still there would be some which didn't update. Running the tool as admin didn't do it so in the end I manually copied the files across from where the app stored em.
You got to grab em while the app is still running cause it deletes on exit.
The path was C:\users\[username]\AppData\local\Temp\BL2\Downloads\

Many thanks for the tip, but I still can't get it to update. The downloading of files doesn't even start; after verification, I get a message saying BL2 was successfully updated (even though it wasn't). I've also tried making the game folder NOT read-only, but it reversts back immediately.
This is getting ridiculous.
