A young man is held captive in a house by a family and I think they were very religious and the dad is obsessed with chess. The young man has to beat the dad at chess to be able to leave. I think the wife is quite sympathetic to the young man but is too weak minded to stand up to her husband. I also remember something strange about the basement too. I'm also pretty sure it wasn't an English speaking movie, I'm thinking Scandinavian or Spanish.
Sorry for being so vague but this is all I have and it's starting to piss me off that I can't think of the name of this frickin movie.

Around 2 years ago, problem is it could easily be an older film. I'm 90% sure I watched it in HD though.
