Learning today that his script The Hateful Eight leaked after he gave it to a small circle of actors, Quentin Tarantino tells me that he’s so upset that he has decided that he will not direct that film next. So basically that means the conversation that will be circulating around town following this story with Tarantino goes from an ensemble Western to a whodunit. As in, which actor or their reps leaked the script that, as a result, is going on the shelf — literally a bookstore shelf, because Tarantino tells me he will publish it first and maybe revisit the prospect of a movie in the next five years.
Quote:
The filmmaker acknowledges that this is mostly about feeling betrayed, because he does not have an aversion to the inevitable blogger evaluation of his screenplays. He just cannot believe it’s going to happen this early in the process, when he has just begun talking to Harvey Weinstein about how they’re going to make it.
“I am not talking out of both sides of my mouth, because I do like the fact that everyone eventually posts it, gets it and reviews it on the net,” Tarantino said. “Frankly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I like the fact that people like my shit, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it. But I gave it to six motherfucking people! Starting this week, I’ll be setting meetings with publishers.”
Quote:
“I hadn’t given it to Christoph, I haven’t given it to Sam Jackson,” he said. “I gave it to three motherfucking actors. We met in a place, and I put it in their hands. Reggie Hudlin’s agent never had a copy. It’s got to be either the agents of Dern or Madsen. Please name names.”
U mad?
Seriously though, its a shame, Madsen and Roth beeing in it and all.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I will never understand why writers/directors get soooooo pissed off when their scripts leak. Other than a few fanboys 90% of the general public will not go hunting down Internet copies to read it.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Kill Bills original script was awesome, before it got butchered into two (good none the less) movies.

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!

You don't understand because you didn't read. Its not that it was leaked, it's that it was leaked by one of the few people he trusted. He's just burned that one of those people fucked him over and betrayed his trust, and on that I agree and understand his rage.

That said, not a fan of Tarantino, so meh.
You are actually right, I didn't really read it carefully to notice he is pissed off people who he trusted leaked it. Fair enough.

The reaction is typical Tarantino, nothing new under the sun, but I think he's in the right this time. Hope he changes his lunatic brilliant mind, because I was starting to like the idea behind this new western.
he should have just stfu and nobody would have believed the script was legit, or it wouldn't spread as much
script leaks have happened before and zero fucks were given
Well that sucks, the movie sounded awesome and QT is yet to make anything less than fantastic. Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, and Django Unchained are my favorite movies of all time. But I guess if I were QT, I would react the same way. Pretty low to leak intellectual property worth millions.
I don't think his movies are *that* great. Pulp Fiction was nice, yes. Jackie Brown was decent too. Inglorious Basterds was a generic bore fest. Reservoir Dogs is OK but nothing special. Kill Bill, well, nothing all that special either. Haven't watched Django yet, it's still on disk here.
i love the dialogue in his movies, sure he cheats by morphing the characters, and basically every single one of them is quentin tarantino, but still, he writes some great, unique and entertaining dialogue.
much like the common hipster refusing the unpopular opinion.
Tarantino is a hack. He uses the word nigger, throws in some rape situations, show some super violent slavery scenes. redemption scene. suddenly the main character grows emotionally, physically and intellectually.
Simple story. based on a shitty shaft wannabe shitty blacksplotation series.
Once Tarantino uses the word nigger his movie is awesome/epic. throw in some cheap bloody violence. some unoriginal one liners. Boom. 10/10 movie.
He only made one good movie. Reser dogs was unoriginal poop. Pulp fiction was a shared baby. After pulpy the creativity sank down. four rooms showed exactly what Tarantino is good at. childish dialogue. stupid violence. jackie brown was good cause it wasn't his original. Then he did kill bills which sucked. though part 2 was much better than the first. if you liked part 1 more than part 2 it just proves what he wanted to show... typical ughmerican audience loves Tarantino violence and shitty dialogue. part 2 was the typical Tarantino and it didn't get all those fanfares. Then Grindhouse came out and Tarantino forgot what grindhouse movies were all about. it was all talk and talk and talk and typical Tarantino talk and then that one scene that everyone remembered. Not many can quote good lines from his grind house venture. Inglorious basterds was just stupid. Good acting from some men. but other than that it was an oscar grab. nazis nazis jews and nazis... and years after... i've seen it four times and I can't recall anything memorable. apart from that great scene where they show the bombs tied into their ankles. I liked that. Not very typical. It was out of element in the movie. but it was nice. Just like those transitions in the departed.
As for django... i stated main flaws
Tarantino was good when he had a writing partner. And his writing partner went on to create these awesome shitty but creative movies and it proved that the creative writing seen in pulp wasn't all of Tarantino. And as seen in his post pulp works... tarantino is not the writing god everyone wants him to be. And since that unprecedented relationship ended nothing came close to the quality of creativity in writing everyone sucks tarantinos dick for.
BOOOM! BOOOM!
however if you're a diehard Tarantino fan and you like his movies. then good on you. they're very hollywoodian. very entertaining. but not with a lot of depth.
Then Grindhouse came out and Tarantino forgot what grindhouse movies were all about. it was all talk and talk and talk and typical Tarantino talk and then that one scene that everyone remembered.

Tarantino, on Death Proof, says that he'll retire before he makes another movie as bad as that one, because he'd like to retire before tarnishing his legacy. "To me, it's all about my filmography, and I want to go out with a terrific filmography," he says. "Death Proof has got to be the worst movie I ever make. And for a left-handed movie, that wasn't so bad, all right? So if that's the worst I ever get, I'm good. But I do think one of those out-of-touch, old, limp, flaccid-dick movies costs you three good movies as far as your rating is concerned."
