On the same night Marvel launched Agents of SHIELD, it's been revealed that DC is making another big step in TV, with Commissioner Gordon getting his own live-action series, reveals Deadline. Following a bidding war between the networks, the Warner Bros. TV-produced series, called Gotham, has ended up at FOX. Showing what a big deal Gotham is, it's been given a straight-to-series order, bypassing the pilot stage.
The series will focus on a young Detective James Gordon and "the villains that made Gotham famous." Bruno Heller (Rome, The Mentalist) is writing the Commissioner Gordon, which will presumably launch during the 2014-2015 TV season. Gotham will take place before Gordon meets Batman, who will not be a part of the series.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
So basically it's batman minus the ONLY interesting thing the franchise has going for it...
Heyyyy here's an idea, how about a superman show that just follows Jimmy Olsen learning how to use a camera, so that he can work at the daily planet one day!! Fuck doing a pilot, just take dat shit straight to series!! Fuck yeah!
(yes I am aware that was a terrible example because jimmy Olsen is indeed a more interesting character than superman....)
I think a show following the everyday life of Alfred would be awesome. Polish the armor, re-fuel the batmobile, check in at butler union meeting. Pay the prostitutes, pay Gordon to ignore the overdosed asian whore and cocaine everywhere around batcave.

I don't see what is so difficult in creating a full fledged Batman series, especially if set in a universe similar to that of Nolan's. Could, for example, tell the chronicles of Blake-like character as a new Batman. It's not like you really need some crazy effects.

Batman requires use of bat gear and vehicles. Okay you can compose CG bat-flying-thing (whatever it's called) with city shots, but batmobile or bike - you need on-location street shots and that's uber expensive. As well as cape gliding which would require a ton of night city helicopter shots for CG to be added to.
No, it wouldn't work or be

How much of that was in Batman Begins? Or in the others, to be honest. Tumblr wasn't something that looked very expensive. Neither the pod. Either way, they could make them cool and cheaper. I hated the Burton/Schumacher car (so the comic book one, basically).
No, not the vehicle is expensive - the shooting process. On-location city shooting is one of the most expensive stuff in cinema production. You block the streets, you have hundreds of extras, dozens of coordinators etc etc etc And you can't do it with CG.
... and most of BBegins happened out of city no?

What? What is it the 90's? They would use green screen and some stock shots of cities.

*sigh*
I'm talking about shots of a moving vehicle in the streets - like car chases. All the chromakey shots that are used in EVERY series these days dating back from Sex in the City are static. People are moving, vehicles are passing, but the shot itself is static. Car chases aren't shot on chromakey

It's not like the essence of Batman is the car chases. Also, have you seen the Transporter series? Sure it was shit, but it had some car chases which were fine. They would be more than fine in a Batman series, where this is not the purpose of the series.
Oh, come on. Haven't you watch the "Need for Speed" trailer
Back to the topic. It would be a Batman life action tv series. I don't think there would be a car chase scene in every episode and they could CGI it. Yeah it wouldn't probably look great.
But I don't think anyone would go for a full fledge Batman tv series now. More likely a year one stuff like Smallville.

All I wanted to say is that Batman stripped off his visually impressive stuff like flying and vehicles would look cheap. Also unlike Arrow Batman would require serious locations - villain lairs, chemical plants with bubbling green ooze Why they made Arrow? Because he's on the streets, it's easy to shoot in Canada. Batman would require specially built props or CGI backs like Once Upon a Time -> cheap looking again.
I'm pretty sure TV industry ain't technically/financially ready for a Batman series.
As to Transporter - I'm sure it was shot in Eastern Europe which doesn't quite fit Gotham City style

Yup, exactly.

What you mean, they have that one lot in Bulgaria that is like a few streets of New York. They just have to tint colors to blueish and it feels just like New York err Gotham.
... No, not really. I hate shit filmed in eastern europe, it looks very fake.
Leo that would be a fantastic idea. It would be like arrow. Blake has all the tools and gadgets and doesn't know how to use them yet. Has to learn how to be batman. Would work... along with commish gordon in the series it would work real well. You don't need big villains for the show, just petty crooks here and there and a big mastermind per season.
however... since batman reboot is underway... this would be moot as it would follow nolan timeline and by the time a new batman movie comes along the show will be obsolete.
As much as i dislike what nolan did... the tone, the characters, the story really worked well together and it would be fantastic to continue it within the same timeline/universe. next batman movie with blake as the head honcho. who says you need bruce wayne?
Pilot is set the night Bruce Wayne's parents are murdered.
A 10 year old Bruce Wayne will appear in the Pilot and will also be a regular cast member of the series.
Pilot will shoot in March 2014.
Forget about Batman! Batkid is here!

So stupid. The entire premise of this is so retarded. To keep people "interested" and to have the series "grounded" in its "roots", they have to have some kid fight crime and go through pubescence and create some stupid relationship where some, let's admit it - probably some pretty boy teen, Gordon learns about himself through an involuntary relationship to your Wayne.
