However I thought 32-bit programs were limited to a max of 2 GB RAM and then with that flag they could use the full 4 GB.
That's true, though using the full 4GB on a 32bit system is bound to cause problems, since those 4GB also have to hold the system, video memory mapping, etc.
Anyway, I'm really just assuming that's what they've done. They tried to enable it by default in one of the X3 incarnations, but it ended up crashing a lot of non-64bit systems. That's why it kinda remained an 'unofficial' fix.

LAA flag has no effect on 32-bit systems, unless you add the /3GB switch to the boot configuration and even then the program can only use 3 gb.

ok i give up. It's simply impossible to finish the campaign without it bugging out every couple minutes for xy reason. There is always something that doesn't triggers .. or does trigger when it shouldn't ... ships not doing what they should, getting stuck etc.

Right. 4GB on 64bit systems and 3GB on /3GB 32bit systems.

I'm done.
Well you stuck with it a lot longer than most of us and a lot longer than I would have expected

didn't work this weekend and didn't go out. So i had a lot of free time.
yeh i did, but as the station walking is utterly painful i have only done it twice and I thought it was my imagination and or i didnt care as it was just another ridiculous thing to add to the list
You know, I have to give 'kudos' to onlinekeystore, who didn't get my keys on time, thus activated my refund rights, digitally, What a fuckin relief to get good luck for once, and be stopped from buying a piece of utter shit.

Gave it one last chance. Wanted to get to actually building a station. So I scanned a bunch of stuff, got enough money to get 50 marines (how they fit on that fighter sized boat is beyond me) and got a marine officer.
Captured a few freighters and miners, and ran into another bug. Apparently the game arbitrarily de-lists ships from your assets list. I had at least 3 ships at one point, all in the same system as the dealer, and NONE of them appeared in the sell list. So I flew around a bit more, captured two other ships (by the way, now you either capture ships with zero causalities, or they all die, no middle ground), docked back into the shipyard, and now magically all my ships were on the list.
Side note, if you capture a freighter, it's as good as useless scrap metal. Even if you put an engineer on the thing, he will not repair anything. The hull stayed the same, the engines were dead, etc. I went to the shipyard to have one restored, and after fighting my way through the property-de-listing, and other hurdles, the captain finally acknowledged the order, said he's moving to dock, but without engines, he never got around to actually do it. So after another round of hide-the-ship-from-the-list, I sold it. For 0 credits. Yep, it was listed as worth nothing.
So I bought a constructor ship, hired an architect...and we can only build on pre-placed station slots. When the CS is in your squad, little icons appear in space (2-3 per zone) where you can start building.
You would think out of those 'seven years', someone would have really played and tested this through, even in the last 2 months, to see if it actually worked ?
I can see now why we never had much info on this turd beforehand. I suspect they knew all along.
Sad to see a franchise go that way really, more so the X series.
they started this back when they released x3:reunion.
There is not a shadow of a doubt to me, that it was meant to be the console version of the x-series.
so i guess they spent like 1-2 years developing it back then and for some reason couldn't get it cleared to publish on console (considering the state it is in, i'm not surprised) and they decided, after the release of albion prelude, to port it over to pc. So it took them 2 years to do that (poorly).
there is no way, they spent 7 years on this of developing. i'm surprised they spent even a year of developing (not porting).
And it's not just about design decisions either, no, it's about the sheer amount of missing features, which should be there. Can send out drones, but can't recall them ? wtf ? Give ships trade orders, but can't cancel them ? wtf ?
A campaign, which is impossible to finish (i can't even imagine, the amount of luck you must have, to finish it, without it bugging out.)
Ships becoming unresponsive, quest flags bugging (quests getting flagged as complete, before they are or never getting flagged as complete).
It's just tons and tons of crap like that piling up.
i simply canot understand how they manage to put that shit nonintuitive radial menu into the game.
yeh, if this was their first game, sure. but they have the almost perfect menu in x3.

I get my refund as well from OKS.
But I wasn't as smart as you, because I bought the game fullprice on Steam then
I am still hoping this game will be fixed/modded eventually.

Yeah I also gave in and bought it on steam day 1... worst decision this year for sure. lol
It just makes me feel dirty that I contributed to the game being a "huge success".
Fuck egosoft for that shit, man.
I have a very high tolerance for bugs and unfinished stuff but this game is just broken right now.
Thankfully it does seem like X-Rebirth is more moddable than X ever was before so even core design flaws may be fixable this time around.
There's already a mod that lets you talk to people on stations remotely and supposedly the interface is now completely customizable and written in LUA so we could get a complete overhaul (although that's not quite open to modding quite yet or something, not sure on the details, gotta wait on tools and documentation I think)
Egosoft should just stop trying to make a game and just make a super barebones moddable sandbox and let the community make the game. They're doing a much better job.
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.

Exactly, most of the dev time was probably sunk in the new tech and development process for the consoles. I dont think the PC version has seen more than 1 .5 years of real dev work. And judging by the state the game is in, lots of dumb design decisions by someone in charge.
The Team does and did know what a piece of shit theyre selling, why the fuck didnt they go the ARMA3 route and do Early Access on Steam????
"Sorry, we fucked up, help us make the game better. We're releasing it on Early Access"
They couldve spun this really nicely marketing-wise by being honest. The community wouldve been 1000% on their side and help them sort out the mess.
The main problem is that we were lied to into believing that this is a good game.

Some companies are more arrogant and proud than others.
• Fixed a number of crashes during start-up and in-game.
• Fixed crash when docking at certain capital ships.
• Fixed a problem with missing flight control data in savegames.
• Fixed a stall when loading savegames.
• Fixed characters crouching when you talk to them.
• Fixed ships still following you when you remove them from your squad.
• Removed "Show me your skills" option for NPCs that cannot be hired.
• Increased voice volume in videos.
• Added feedback to indicate when you cannot hire someone because your crew is full (note: Yisha tells you, but there is currently no voice, only subtitles).
• Added data to try to help nVidia Optimus software select the correct GPU.
• Added fallback to show subtitles if the voice for a text line is missing, even if subtitles are off.
• Added Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese localisations.
At least patches are currently coming in daily. If they keep that up for a while maybe the clearly broken stuff will indeed be completely fixed... if they could just patch their new direction/mentality.
Fully agree Early Access for this game would have been fine. I just don't understand how they could release it as a final product. The campaign is clearly the main point of the game now but there is also no fucking way that they have actually played through it.

Well if they had, they would have seen the first two on that patch list right away, if not, all of them, which just goes to show that no actual testing was done beforehand, whatsoever.
