I am enjoying it a lot so far. I can look past bad models, and my performance is fine. I might have a slighly beefier pc than most though.
It's interesting how many people are quick to latch onto the faults of this one as if the previous games were faultless, there were plenty of spawning npc's and wares in that game to keep the economy alive if you destroyed too much.
And your NPC controlled ships would run around in circles if they got into the geometry of some bigger station or amongst other npc's because noone could plan more than one frame ahead.

Getting more into it, the "story" so far is very drudgey, flying around, hiring faceless NPCs for a freighter that the game just gave me for shits and giggles. It will stand of fall on the industry and building mechanics anyway, so that remains to be seen. What I've managed to see so far is an average European-developed space sim with pretty visuals. Managed to seem bigger than the previous games though, having a seamless universe REALLY helped a lot on that front.

Performance seems very situational. As usual, it seems the biggest problem is the overabundance of flair and spectacle. Lots of AI shuttles flying around, police scanning ships, etc. Looks pretty, but I bet it eats up a lot of CPU power.
IIRC, civilian ships were a problem in Reunion, there were a ton of them and they killed the FPS there too. Modders to the rescue!

Theres a HUGE gamebreaker!!! Every god time when when I get up from my chair in the open space and go to the crew quarters the door refuses to let me back in the cockpit!! Its fine in the stations but if I have to stand up and do something in the open space - gg hf but reload your game matey!

I turned the game off as soon as I saw 13 fps after the initial cutscene. While my PC specs aren't the best (i5 2500k @ 4 GHz, GeForce 560ti, 8GB RAM) I expected better than this =x
