The Acer HN274Hbmiiid, this a good monitor for it's price? (~€378,11)
Or would you recommend another one that is better for around the same price?

A friend of mine has this one and is recommending it to another friend of mine, but i'm unsure that he's correct about everything he's saying about this monitor..

Price doesn't seem anything special.. and it's tn panel. Save Your friend from terrible blacks and viewing angles !

I would always go for dell ips panels but dunno about 27 models

Well he does want to have 120Hz and 27inch minimal, so keep that in mind.

Tho i'm trying to convince him that 120Hz is kinda useless if you can't get 120fps in games..

120hz is certainly nice feature but yeah... he is not going to get 120fps in games so fuck that

1920x1080 @ 27" would be a complete nogo for me. I already see too many pixels on my 24" 1200p Fujitsu IPS.

But if he 120Hz and 27" so badly then this monitor should be fine (based on a quick google review search)

Got a brand/type for that? And can you order those here or do they need to be imported?

I have a QNIX 2710, bought from Ebay. You have no choice but to import it from South Korea, unfortunately, and that can come with an additional price if you get "caught" by customs. Additionally, the monitor may or may not arrive with defects. Mine didn't though, thankfully.

Asus ProArt PA249Q, if you don't really need 27" monitor and if you are good with 24".

It's often compared to Dell U2412m, but it's a 10-bit monitor vs Dells 6-bit + A-FRC, so in color depth Asus wins.

Also Dell has e-ips, whereas Asus has ah-ips, which is superior to e-ips.

Nah, he has a 24 inch now, and is of the same opinion as i am, if you upgrade your monitor, at the very least, get a bigger screen. Smile

Well, I'd always go for a better screen than a bigger one Wink

Well the difference isn't exactly night and day, especially seeing he mostly plays FPS games (from the info i gathered, TN (and 120Hz) is still superior when playing FPS games and having above 70-80 fps).
So investing €250+ for just a tiny bit of better image quality isn't worth the money IMO, the very least you need a bigger screen to make up for it.

Well if it's used exclusively for gaming then bigger TN panel is good I guess... Altho if one isn't sitting straight in front of the monitor while playing, I don't see how that's good since TN panels have awful viewing angles :\

Gaming or not, TNs - Boo!
Not really a "tiny bit" of difference between that and a proper monitor, in my opinion, but to each his own.
Going from 24 to 27 simply makes it a bigger piece of poop Very Happy

I was looking to suggest him this one: https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/MX279H/

Comes around ~€310,-
Seems like a proper one?

You can get for about 400€ Overlord Tempest 27" 1440P IPS (which is 120hz). Also supports the upcoming G-SYNC chip, which is going to be pretty awesome for this kind of screen since you can enjoy "smoothness" with lower FPS aswell.

What goes for that Asus its pretty fine monitor, my brother has one. For me 27" 1080p is a no go tho, pixel density sucks Very Happy
