The first trailer of a new upcoming 10 episodes British-American limited series starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers(Tudors), Jessica De Gouw(Arrow), Thomas Kretschmann, Katie McGrath(Merlin) and others.

I don't quite get why international producers decided to put up with infamous NBC but whatever.

Tbh it looks quite good and I'm most certainly looking forward to seeing it

I just hope they make it mature\adults-friendly ;P Enough with twilightish crap! Very Happy
Also I'm quite pleased that its a limited series. Meaning it's just one season which I'm perfectly fine with.

Seems interesting. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a fine actor, though pales in comparison to Gary Oldman as Dracula.

Oh yes. He did shine in that role, indeed.Outstanding performance.

I've already heard people complaining about yet again Dracula-Mina love interest plot and demanding to be "true" to original, but as for me i prefer Coppola's interpretation more than Stoker's novel.

So.. I've just watched .the pilot Wink
what can I say..
It does have potential imho though I'm not sure I am quite comfortable with Dracula's reasoning for going against the order of the dragon. They sound too..."paladinish" Very Happy I hope he just wants to avenge the death of his wife and it's just justification, but even it it is I still don't like it)

Also, although I prefer vampires not walking in a broad daylight, Stokers Dracula had no problem having a nice day walk. he was just weaker and couldnt use his powers Wink

Anyways, judging by the preview for the next episode they will attempt something to make him walk in a daylight. I hope it wont work)

The pilot was reasonably bloody, but, alas, no boobs in sight. Very Happy NBC is not HBO. I guess if it was only British prodution we would have a chance to see some proper "action" Cool

PS ah there is a web series released by NBC and it seems he was a member of the order( who would have guessed? lol ) and was betrayed, so now it looks tad better in that regard. I thought they would completely disregard his connection to the order.

Yeah, I prefer vampire the masquerade approach. Only the old ones, real powerful with high fortitude could daywalk at a cost.

Just finished watching Ep01. Rhys Meyers is great as stylish Victorian age steam punk Tony Stark. The whole idea is clever and interesting.

So far it's many times better than that Sleepy Hollow abomination.

No, the katana wielding Dracula on the roof is neither clever nor interesting. The kukri sandbag training is just beyond dumb and cheesy.

These were the only two moments I didn't like.

Both scenes were poorly choreographed tbh

Still better than an M16-wielding headless corpse which is an epitome of dumbness.

Stoker's characters are there, the story is different

PS could anyone upload to youtube or another site this video?

It's a sort of "animated" web-series from NBC, a prequel of a kind.. It's not available in my region and proxies dont help much.

ha! that was a nasty trick he used with a mirror in the second episode Me Gusta
It looked awesome. Fucking junkies shit their pants I guess Very Happy
And it did seem he summoned the storm when he picked up Mina and later offered her an umbrella he had got beforehand.

I'm starting to like this show.

At least here Dracula seems to be more or less a" proper" vampire - he rips his innocent victims throats and has supernatural abilities the "modern" vampires lack (nowadays they just have superspeed and can fuck with ur mind, that's all) Now they only need to make him turn into a wolf, summon mist and stuff like that!

I'm starting to like it too. Second ep. had some good stuff going for it and the show is sufficiently dark. I feared they would over-romanticize Dracula, but thankfully that's not the case - he's a monster, alright, and well aware of it too. Might turn out to be a pretty nice show, all in all, and a welcome change from teen drama vampires and True Blood seasonally growing stupidity Smile

Well, after having watched the 4th episode I sort of changed my mind about the show..

Why would the order leave
 Spoiler:

. They were practically asking for trouble.
But after they
 Spoiler:

I'm not surprised at anything going on in this show.

Wtf has happened to Daniel Knauf who is responsible for this show? Carnival didn't suffer from that kind of ridiculous writing.

I'm so pissed at them for screwing the opportunity they had to create a clever, tragic, romantic, bloody and sexy tv series about Dracula and kinda failing.

Don't get me wrong, it is still much better than the vampire diapers, but other than that I'm not really happy with what they've done. It's enjoyable but it could have been oh so much more.

Now, IF they manage to explain what I mentioned in this post and do it properly then I'll applaud them.

PS I had some questions regarding why Dracula didnt kill Jane after he had found out about the female vampire and why Helsing did what he did.

From another forum:
Quote:
He spent the night with the woman and she's convinced it was vampire who killed them. Thus suspicion is thrown away from Grayson. Brutal force also throws away suspicion from Van Helsing. What's more, they set it up in such way they the Order will now think he's all powerful and can track anyone.

So it goes like this:

Helsing paralyzes the junkies so that they won't do anything stupid, after all he is just one man, and they won't attract attention screaming.

He kills them in a brutal way that would suggest a really strong creature killed them in an instant (they couldn't even protect themselves, there is no sign of a struggle).

Dracula spends the night with Jane (what the seers see in a mirror indicates it happens at the same time) creating a perfect alibi and obviously he can't touch her atm otherwise it would render Dracula\Helsing's plan futile.

That's why after the scene with Helsing we see Dracula smiling.

Great show this far. Starting with episode 4 now.

1 thing that annoyed me. The order people didn't understand why dracula could detect the seers as they are undetectable for common vampires, and obviously dracula is more than a common vampire. But when they were killed the order said that it would attract more vampires. But that means that they are detectable. Honestly they should seriously think before writing sometimes, but it's just a minor annoyance.
