When it comes to indie OSTs that cause everyone to become teary-eyed nothing beats this IMO:

Crying or Very sad

Agreed, IMO. "Gone Home" is great, it really is, but nothing beats "For River" for insta-prickle-eye Crying or Very sad I'm actually quite worried about the next To The Moon game, how on earth can he hope to match the first one? Very Happy

To The Moon is nothing short of a masterpiece, I'm so glad I decided to play it because I would have missed something really unforgettable. Razz

My indie radar must be broken, never heard of Dust or To The Moon. I'll check out both.

What can you guys compare this game to? I can't get a good feel from trailers. I doubt I'll buy it if I start ISOdemo, so I want to buy it if it is my kinda game.

It's better not to compare anything to To The Moon. Just play it, it's pretty short.

As for Dust, it's like the Wii game Muramasa (and the PS2 Odin's Sphere) as well as another PC title called Fortune Summoners.

Never heard of or played any of those, I'll just check it out Smile

edit: I've played it for two hours, "wow" is all I can say. Does anyone know whether FLT saves work with the steam version? I have 1.04.

Most "Yarr" saves should work with legit copies, it just depends where the saves are made. Luckily you have the easiest way - the way it should be on all games IMO - and that's MyDocs. The Dust saves are located in "Documents\SavedGames\DustAET\Save Files" so you won't have to do anything.. just remove the Yarr version, install Steam one, play as normal.

And yes.. it IS an amazing game isn't it? Outstanding music (Alexander Brandon baby) and the game itself, voice/audio aside, was created by one man; Dean Dodrill.

One man created this game? Just one dude?

How long is it? I won't buy it if it's 5-6 hours.

One man created the game and did all the art/etc, yup, the soundtrack was composed by Hyperduck SoundWorks and Alexander Brandon. As for length? More than 6 hours though I couldn't say exactly how long, around 12 hours or so, 15+ for being a completionist.

I remember the game taking me around 20 hours to finish doing everything (except for some achievements which required another playthrough). The length is more than fine in this one. Smile

I just got to chapter 2, intriguing main characters, Fidget is great....

But the core gameplay is so repetitive to the point it got boring. It won't get better, will it?

Have to say this is one of the times I have a different opinion than the majority. While this game certainly looks ace and is a very impressive one man project, it bored me to tears. While the combos are fun at first, I think the fighting gets repetitive. Story is boring and uninspired and the voice acting is atrocious. One of the few games this year where I have played over 2 hours and can't bring myself to finish it.

Glad some people enjoyed it because I really like the indie factor, but have to realize this is not for me. Think I'll try rayman now instead. Smile

Holy shit. This is coming to iOS devices soon Shocked No store page just yet but the requirements are "device with 1GB+ RAM" and that counts out the iPad2, so sadly there will be no portable Dust playing when I return to England next month Crying or Very sad

Yup, when I got it on Steam a couple years back (pretty much right after these earlier posts, actually) and replayed it was 23 hours for completionist with everything "done"

There's no handheld-related thread yet, but if anyone has got - or is interested - in the iOS version;

http://toucharcade.com/2016/04/27/dust-an-elysian-tail-controller-update/

Now updated to support controllers, as it should have been from the start, and it has been optimised to run on the 512MB devices like iPad 2/Mini - though it won't run "as well" as the bigger devices.
