Mine was in 57400\remote. I think maybe that is the standard version of AC and not GOTY's folder

Anyway to trick steam into thinking my copy is already downloaded? i tried the method of putting the files in the correct folder name "common\batman arkham city goty" and letting steam discover the existing files but it didn't work.

Some files don't seem to work and will be downloaded, this doesn't mean Steam downloads the whole game. Even though it will just check a file it will show up in the downloaded amount. This is my experience with other games I took the retail game files from to skip the lenghty download times with a 1 MB connection.

Yeah I looked but I couldn't find it. I completed the normal non GOTY version ages ago but my saves seem lost.

Is this legit? Will Steam/Valve cry at me for scamming them? (I'll use my AC key on my girlfriend's Steam account, so it has to be 100% legit for me to do it.  ).
Also, according to NeoGAF, the removal of SecuRom has improved performance quite a bit. Might be worth people bumping up their settings and benching it.  |
I take these reports with a grain of salt.

Pre-performance-patch and with ancient drivers vs post-patch and with the newest drivers.. it's a BS comparison.
Another BS one:

Someone who played AC in the last couple of months pre-patch and now post-patch would be a good source. These two.. are not.

I still find the performance to be inconsistent to be honest even with Phys X and Direct x 11 stuff off, but thats just me and my ancient gfx card I suppose.

On my 680 the steam version shows no improvement performance wise. Dx11 featured and physix still make it dip sometimes to 30s...

Yep, same boat. I've got a better rig than the first time I played this game and in DX11 I still dip into the 30's. Game looks just as good in DX9 and runs at a constant 60+ so I'm not to arsed.

Here's a (what I assume) proper Securom vs Steam benchmark because the user implies he did the benchmarks just now: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=86648128&postcount=771
And I did the math for ya:
Min framerate: ~30% increase
Avg gramerate: the same
Max framerate: ~10% increase
The average framerate remains the same, and the max framerate increase is nothing particularly impressive (certainly welcomed though). It's the minimum framerate increase that is quite substantial and probably translates to less out of the blue nosedives of the framerate.

Are you definitely running the GoTY edition? SecuRom's been removed, so there shouldn't be anything about a key authentication server.
Edit: Assuming it is the GoTY edition, try verifying the data in game properties? Maybe change download location beforehand. There was an issue where the update hadn't propagated to all the Steam servers, so maybe you've got that problem.

Well i deleted the previous non-goty and redownloaded the new Goty edition, now the problem comes at startup what i described. Checking integrity now.
EDIT: Works straight from the .exe, seems to be some steam issue.
EDIT 2: Still stutters, performance itself is fantastic FPS wise everything maxed out, but the fucking stutters kills it for me, atleast GFWL is gone now.
